Stradic ci4 2500F vs Daiwa Freams
Hi guys and girls,
I have just recently purchased a brand new stradic ci4 2500f but am in 2 minds as to wether or not I should already upgrade it?
I have been checking some specs on the net and bang for buck the Daiwa freams certainly look the goods.
according to the websites the 2500 ci4 reel has a 7kg drag but the line suggestion on the reel is max 10lb.
the Daiwa Freams 3000 on the other hand also states a 7kg drag but sugest's loading it with either 12,16 lb line or even pe 1.2.
I am mainly using this reel to be paired with a rod of about 15 - 18lb and will be using it to flick plastics around in exmouth for Coral Trout and Spanglies ect.
just wondering if anyone has a Freams reel as yet and how they find them?
suggestions would be great
cheers
scano

I have got both, just recently picked up a freams 2500 from complete angler.
I have used the stradic alot, mainly for bream, flatties and squid etc and love it, super light and super smooth, cannot fault it at all.
Haven't got to give the freams a proper workout yet but form what I have done, it is very smooth and feels a tad 'stronger' in the body than a stradic. The 2500 also has 7kg of drag, and i have foudn the line lay to be neater than the stradic.
And from my readings, the 'oil seal' is just a oil soaked felt washer.
Another option could be a ballistic 3000, the ballistics are just a high speed freams, might suit better for what you want it for. http://daiwafishing.com.au/?p=7787
Other options could be the rarenium 2500 with 10kgs of drag, the new stradics and maybe even the new sustains.
hope this helps

Sorry to bring up an old thread.
But how are you finding the freams now.
I really wanted the ballistic 3000 but it only has 4kg drag

Freams is awesome
Feels alot more robust than the Stradic and looks the goods too.
I ended up buying a 3000 size Freams for plastics and tuna fishing in exmouth.
Have that matched to a daiwa tournament master s rod and if feels great to use!
Best of all the reels go for about $200 brand new and the Rods are about the same.
Great combo for the money that I am extremely happy with
