Suburb of Gero to stay clear of

Hi all, A good chance I will be moving back to the west coast next month and will be posted to Geraldton.

Looking at property to either rent or buy and would like to find out what suburbs to stay clear of. Currently looking at Utakarra, Karloo and Rangeway area.

Any help would be apreciated.

Cheers

Stay away from areas where Poddy fish and Spooled live, I hear property values devalued when they moved in!  Be good to have you back in the west mate, been a long time.

Parts of Utakarra and Rangeway are ok. Would stay away from Karloo though. Spalding has the worst reputation these days.

That's where twin tanks come in real handy, straight through to Northampton.

Then up to Exy with you and the car all in one piece

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

drummonds cove

Fri, 2011-05-06 16:11

Yeah from my limited experience i know drummonds cove is pretty good. Ive left the car and boat overnite in the driveway fully loaded up on trips up north a few times now without any problems, touch wood! Probly a bit more expensive tho

Spalding is probably the worst

suburb here atm, with some parts of Rangeway pretty bad also. As others have said, Karloo is a place to avoid. Wandina and Seacrest are nice to the south, Bluff Point is good and so is Drummonds.

By some of the comments made it might be best to commute from Perth.

Comes down to the costs and by the sounds of it you have to pay to live in a nice suburb.

Will suss it out when/if I get there.

The problem I have is keep the boat and live in a crappy area or sell the boat to live in a nice area.

Decisions, decisions..................................................

Gero

Mon, 2011-05-09 14:08

Lived in Gero for the past 13yrs, rent first then take your time to look around. Golden rule, west of the hwy is great, east stay away from, north and south of town excellent. Getting ready to build just out of town after living in West End (central) which was great. The three subs you listed I would not even drive through unless I was speeding.

After growing up in gero in a couple of those suburbs it honestly wouldn't bother me to door again. Funny how living in South Hedland conditions you to accept certain things.
