going to head to spot tomorrow morning early for a fish for tailor NOR...not sure where yet but did head to quinns tday for a walk and saw a lot of weed on one side of the groyne...question....would that put off you experts from fishing or would you still give it a go fishing away from the weed?....the conditions before sunrise look good but i just have a quick question regarding the swell...its giving it at 2.5m ..will this be a harm or hindarence?
thanks guys...hope to hear your answers

To be honest I have never
To be honest I have never ever done well when there is lots of weed around. Usually get pissed off and pack up. Better heading to an area where there is a bit of reef/structure for big tailor.

with the swell up try find
with the swell up try find somewhere protected by a reef that will make it much easier and will mose than likely be a good home for tailor to. weed isnt to bad if its just in the wave line and not out further but if its everywhere try to find a new location. there has been a few real nice tailor comming from NOR beaches so good luck.
always looking for a new challenge!!

probably too late
probably too late now but imo weed only hinders the fisherman, the fish will still be there just means you might have to do alot more casting and winding. 2.5m swell isnt too bad it just might stop you if you were planning on walking out on a reef, get out there

When it comes making that
When it comes making that final decision to go or not I go by the Marine Wind Forecast map on the BOM web site, link: http://www.bom.gov.au/marine/wind.shtml
To me Seabreeze is limited in that it has the one forecast graph for the entire metro waters. From experience I know that conditions 20 miles out are often totally different to what they are on the coast. I find Seabreeze often matches actual conditions out at Rotto but not on the coast, or vice versa, or neither.
Take this morning at 8am, it's an excellent example. Seabreeze doesn't match actual conditions at all - according to the graph it should be light (4 knots) northerlies in the metro area, but actual observations show NE to 10 knots at Ocean Reef, NNE getting up to 15 knots out at Rotto, and NE to 20 knots at Garden Island! Well, that's exactly what the map on the BOM web site shows, north easterlies at Ocean Reef to 10 knots, NNE at east end of Rotto to 15 knots, and NE to 20 knots at Garden Island! Now that gives me confidence in its forecast for the rest of the day.
I've been comparing these two web sites to actual wind observations for some time now and find these BOM maps more accurate. Even in summer they timed the arrival of the seabreeze better. For long term forecasting I still use both, plus a couple more, but for short term forecasts, say current day or a day out, I go by the BOM maps. I find them more accurate, but also more useful because they give me an indication of what the conditions are likely to be at the spot I'm looking to go to.
People often say that Seabreeze got it wrong. Well it probably got it right for somewhere, just not where you were going.
Based on today's wind maps given that I launch NOR I'd be quite happy to take my boat out close in, but I wouldn't be venturing out wide. Unfortunately fishing is not an option for me today
.
Whatever you use though remember that they are computer model generated forecasts only and as a result can change significantly from day to day. Nothing replaces keeping an eye out on actual conditions and knowing your limitations.

Once again
people need to be reminded that Seabreeze is a near shore wind forecasting service for Wind/Kite Surfers, not Boaties.

And
That seabreeze forecasts wave height on the coast not swell running.

Well,
that could be true in metro waters (I have no idea) but completely false down here.
Seabreezes swell forecasts are actually quite accurate down here, if they say 3m it's usually @3m on the Naturaliste swell bout and the surf will be varying sizes depending on the break and required swell direction.

IMO Seabreeze doesn't do a particularly good job at near shore forecasts either
