Sunnies

Hi All

I guess it's like asking how long is a piece of string, but,

Any recommendations on sunnies for LB fishing?

I did have a pair of Fuglies but they were pinched out of my vehicle with my GPS unit!

I'm not intereted in paying for designer names for now reason other than to be 'cool'.

I want a decent pair of polarised glasses that alllow me to really see below the surface, and preferably scrath reistant

I'm aware there are sponsors on this site that deal with sunnies but I'm reaaly after sunnies that suit my purpose rather than ONLY supporting a sponsor and not being satisfied with my purchase.

If I can do both then well and good!

Thanks

Phil

Sunnies....

If you're after a relatively cheap pair of polarized sunnies that will still do the job for fishing, we got a stock a range to suit most price range.

Ranging as little as $34.95 to the well known Spotters.  Cheap doesnt have to be nasty and no brand. We stock the reputable Ocean Eye wear brand for the lower price bracket, Ugly Fish for the mid end and Spotter for the high end.

Any sunnies purchased from us will receive your FW members discount.

buy a set of spotters they are great come in a wide range and are very strong! i have had mine three years and are very rough with them! they dont scratch very easily! well worth the money! i think they retail around the 200 mark unless you want the glass lenses! talk to the boys at complete angler rockingham

Another vote for the Spotters. I have the artic model with the Blue mirror Glass lens. They are great for out on the boat and every day use and are bloody tough(read surviving  clay pegion getting flung into them- nose broke but the sunnies didn't) If you are after a dedicated fishing pair of sunnies. I would go the Photocromatic Penatrator lens. A Mate has these lenses  and we have compared both - They  Penatrator lens make a HUGE difference

All the "Brand" are good

Wed, 2010-12-15 14:04

And I have polos in MJim, spotters, Mako and (useless) Oakleys.

My advise get a brand because of better UV protection, better lenses, less scratch, and then pick Mako first, then Spotters. I think mako is cheaper than spotters.

My Oakley Juliets was given to me 12 years ago by WRC Team Subaru because of work I did for them testing prior to Rally Oz. Obviously I still have the Titanium frame, but have replaced the Polarised lenses times heaps at a price. Now wera them as dress glasses (looking cool) and have one of the others on the boat, best Mako IMO.

you only get one set of eyes!!

Any of the above are great, just ensure you get the best coverage for your face. No good paying $300 for a top set of Maui's that only cover half your eyes and let a heap of sun in around the edges.

Spot on Simon, good coverage

Spot on Simon, good coverage of the eyes is a must.

Don't buy a slimline set that look cool when you are driving, for wearing on the ocean.

Must admit I'm a bit suprised

Must admit I'm a bit suprised that Spotters don't do any mirrors but there is nothing wrong with nylon penetrators I have either. They're a few years old and I cracked and arm, they fitted a new one and sent it back for $26.

I am currently running Spotters Penetrators but have just purchased a few sets off the site sponsor for a trial run. Got a few styles and colours so will put up a review shortly. I know Goodz has a set he is using as well.

Yep been wearing a pair of the Flying Fisherman Maui's with the smoke lense. Super light and comfy to wear all day, nothing worse than your sunnies hurting your head after an hour or 2. Polarization seems great too. Cheap alternative to the more expensive brands. Forgot I was wearing them on the weekend as I jumped off the boat for a swim and just realised as I was hitting the water... they were gone by the time my hands hit my face and I thought I'd lost them. But as I swam back towards the boat my foot hit them and I got them back! They almost seemed to float? Luckkkyyy...

Also have some Ugly fish sunnies which I like. Nice and light and comfy again.

Maui Jim's are the best sunnies I've had by a country mile, great polarisation and face coverage, good with scratches as well.

I like my spotters, have lasted 3 years now, and I wear them everywhere. I got a pair of flying fishermans cheap model as a spare set for the boat and they seem quite good too, only $50ish.
