Surprise catch

Got a pleasant surprise yesterday while squidding off Hillarys.
Was a slow day with not many squid and just before heading back to the ramp, my rod starts to go off. Knew it wasn't a squid, but certainly didn't expect to see decent flathead come alongside the boat. Stevieboy grabbed the net and luckily managed to land this very nice 50cm flathead.
Nice end to a nice day out with Doug and Steve

I've hooked but not landed Spangos up north & also ruined a squid jig on a dirty big NW blowie.

No complaining there for a nice meal. I hooked up on a sambo last week for a few minutes till it managed to straighten some of the barbs.
