Went and checked out my favourite western suburbs chopper spot early in the season and i was quietly surprised that they were around. got a few and kept one size one for dinner. Hopefully this is the signs for a good season like last year.

Look for the birds diving
if your trolling ...crush barbs on trebles or replace with singles makes for easy release , small chromies work well skipping and diving on surface, watching them smash the lures is half the fun...good luck

sundown
sundown is the best time... from the shore 15gram twisties are the bomb... just keep casting and if they're there you'll hook up.

I have had a little bit of luck at South Perth side under the freeway bridge. Under the lights (at night obviously) against the cement pillons. Dont know why, but if there are seagulls hanging around then they are there.
Another to try is the old Freo traffic bridge on an incoming tide.

Gday PT, don't know where
Gday PT, don't know where Nick's spot is (tho he mentions Western suburbs) and I'm new to it too but I've had some success parking under the southern end of the narrows then walking west along the bank as far as the boat ramp. Have picked up a few 35cm choppers along there, all around sunset and when the wind was putting some chop on the water. I'm sure there are better spots around tho.
Went for a flick this arvo and only managed to donate two lures into the bottom of the river in the space of 15mins by accidently flicking the bail arm while casting. Light braid with no stretch doesn't take kindly to that kinda impact. Gotta laugh at myself, stupid noob.

Doh! I did the same up at Moore river a couple of weeks back, braid as well, with a halco twistie. Second cast, bail arm goes back into position inadvertantly and SNAP...nice shiny lure cartwheels into the depths :( lol
Your entitled to your opinion, it's just that yours is stupid.

Chidley Point holds a few
Chidley Point holds a few tailor from time to time but these are just schools travelling around the point so the action isn't consistent. Far better off concentrating your efforts around areas with lights to attract baitfish which in turn attracts the tailor. Claremont Jetty, under the Narrows, Bicton Baths & Aqua Viva Jetty are good places to start. Many times I've been able to spend 3-4 hours at any one of those locations getting near enough a fish a cast.
