SWAN fishing

Hey guys, since I have just got my RST, Im hoping to spend a little time in the swan, getting use to handling the boat and getting my sea legs before hitting the real stuff.

The wife wants me to take her out on the swan Tuesday for a 'cruise' and a picnic so the rods are coming!

Any suggestions on what to target ie Bream, tailor etc and where best to start looking as I dont know the river too well.

Was thinking of chucking a few lures as the wife wont appreciate bait. Never simple......

Cheers Kev

Thanks for the advice Blake. Ive got some 25g Javelins and a couple Halco Laser pro 120's will these do the trick? Are the Tailor pretty much around there all the time or is morning/ arvo better? What speed would you troll at (about 4kts?) Sorry about the daft questions Smile

nah the laser pros are too

Mon, 2008-12-22 12:37

nah the laser pros are too big, you want something between say, 5cm to 7cm. the 25g javelins should be alroight, but you might want to use a good quality swivel to stop the line twist while trolling. you'll catch tailor throughout the day, but later arvo will fire them up a bit bit more.

as for speed, as slow as you can, put the boat just in gear and it should be alright, for us, this is about 3.5kts

hope this helps.

If u launch at freo, then go towards the heads and fish under the traffic bridge, bound to get some tailor, silver and black bream, and whiting.

Maybe for next time
