id say point walter, i learnt on it or theres a really good ramp across the river from the freo water police station i forgot what its called my bad, its really good to launch nice and deep and they have jetties there aswell
And bloody expensive, last time was about $12 a day for parking or more, sure its got finger jetties but I reckon Point walter is a bit easier for a beginners with a couple of launching spots, no finger jetties but can be a bit quieter and I think its $6-8 a day for parking. What size boat are you launching?
deep water point in mount pleasant would be pretty quiet this time of year, no jetty from memory
The leeuwin can have a strong current drifting across it from tidal movememnts at times and is bloody expensive.
a bit further up but Maylands has a nice floating jetty and also the ramp at belmont is very good
there is one in mosman bay without a jetty that can be very shallow at times and only suitable for ali boats if the sandbar is there plus 4wd is also needed at times if the sand builds up
Point Walter is good, but can be a bit difficult sometimes when all the big boats fly coming back from rottnest- the waves build up on the shallow water constantly. But make sure you know how to get out, its not very well marked although there is a map on a sign at the boat prep area. Launched there yesterday, saw about 3 people take no notice of the sign, and go over the extremely shallow sand bar. Didn't get to far, one bloke had to get out and walk his boat to deeper water. Paid $4 for 4 hours. Plenty of parking
Deep Water Point is ok in winter with not too many people. Very slippery ramp. Packed in summer. Cafe there too. Pay for parking but it's not ridiculous. Rig is correct- no jetty. Also there is a sand ramp opposite Mt Pleasant on the Kwinana Freeway side. Pretty quiet most of the time.
Leuwin (East Fremantle) very expensive as Sarcasm0 said. Limited parking too. Packed in summer because it's the closest ramp to the ocean along the river. 2 finger jetties. See's a lot of boat traffic.
has anyone got any infor on that ramp I think the jetskiers use on the south west side of the narrows and also the one further up the river in south perth?
I use Matilda Bay regularly. Ramp and jetty are in great nick (non-slip ramp etc), and it's protected from wind and wash which makes pulling up to the jetty a bit easier when you're starting out (well it did for me anyway).
Cheers yeh not that big just with skids and a drawbar thats 2ft too short makes it hard with out drenching a new car haha!! Will have to go give it a go !
Yeh i struggled at deep water point ( mainly due to my drawbar being too short ) and possibly just the tide was low or whatever but it wasnt nice on the slippery ramp, and after that i couldnt be bothered going in the river anyway haha
Its probably the most slippery ramp which isn't ideal. Never again in the river- moored it for two days, took it out, brown as batshit underneath where it rested in the water.

I think
Nickk you are thinking of the leeuwin boat ramp. You're right it is very good for beginners. Good access to the lower half of the Swan too.
Wherever you go, there you are

South West side ramp is single lane, no ramp, limited parking. Predominantly used by jetskiers but have seen boats going in there.

Yeah that's the jet ski
Yeah that's the jet ski area. Why not try Coode st South Perth. Very easy ramp and good little beach there to park up the boat.

Not 100% sure of the depth,
Not 100% sure of the depth, but as the ramp is in front of some pens holding pretty big boats I'm sure you'd be ok as it's fairly deep all round.
I have also seen some fairly big boats launched there (28ft centre). That said, not sure what sort of boat you have.

That's the river for you.
That's the river for you. Even where i launch at Coode it's slippery usually chuck it into low range to drive out normally.
