Fuel line?
Start with the fuel line - check for air leaks in the system from the tank through to the motor, right to the inlet to the carbie... I had the same shit with my Suzuki 75 2 stroke - starts easily at the ramp, rechecked just after starting a drift, fine, then the bastard would battle to start 1/2 hour later - found a factory fuel line clamp that was leaking near the motor fuel fitting, sucking air, so check all the hoses and make sure the ball pump is firm before trying to start - change all the clamps for screw type hose clamps... I battled for months with this stupid problem, but always bypassed the hoses, as they were new and factory fitted clamps.... good luck mate, hope it helps...

I had a simlar problem with
I had a simlar problem with my 3cyl 60hp merc. would often stop for no reason at times. Might start straight away or need the bulb to be pumped. It turned out to be only when I used Yamaha tote tanks, but was ok with the Septer tanks. Turns out the pin in the Yamaha fittings slip sideways with the merc fuel lines. Using the Yammy fuel lines with the merc motor solved the problem. I found Parsun fuel lines wont plug into the 60 hp 4stroke yammy motor as the plug is too big, but the yammy fuel lines fitted the Parsun, and run ok.
