Tackle HQ Jigging Tutorial Day 21/02/2012
It was again a fantastic day on the water with Whitey. The morning started off very slow with plenty of fish on the sounder but not anything substantial hitting the jigs until the tide change around 9.30am.
We tried for a few Sambos on a wreck site as the demersals were shut down early in the day but again not much joy.
I suggested we try some soft plastics but even with the Zmans and Mcarthys on and the sounder lit up nothing wanted to touch our offerings.
Whitey said to us that as soon as the tide changed it would be game on and he was right once again.
The day was nearly glassed off with hardly any drift unlike the predictions on willy weather, sea breeze etc.
The jigs were dropped and because of the fantastic conditions we only needed to use 80 to 150 gram jigs all day.
There were a good variety of fish caught and the stand outs were Ians 15kg dhui, Matts big baldy and Chris’s 20kg YTK.
All the passengers had a great time and all caught fish on jigs and over 70 fish were landed between us all
There was a buzz on the way home when 2 marlin were seen free jumping in front of the boat and the game reels, pushers and teasers were deployed but after an hour or so of trolling no luck.
We stopped at the same wreck on the way back to the marina and every drop resulted in striped tuna, sambos and Chris's monster YTK
Thanks to Maz for donating the $100 gift voucher and the winning fish was Chris’s 20kg Yellow Tail kingfish his first and caught on a searock jig.
Thanks to Paul Willis for Donating the Simrad hats the guys appreciated them cheers.
Thanks for Whitey and crew for a great day on the water.
We can’t wait for the next one!
Cheers

Big Thanks to you Steve for
Big Thanks to you Steve for the tips n tricks that you passed on Monday night (PR knots / tieing assists) and on the boat Tuesday, in between taking photo's etc.
Was looking like it was going to be a tough day early, but came good around 10am just as predicted by the great man Whitey.
As always experienced in the shop with yourself and Luke the information which you, Lewis & Whitey passed on freely on the boat was invaluable.
Looking forward to getting back in there to buy more gear (PR bobbin comes to mind amongst jigs) and going on the next Jurien jigging or trolling (hint hint) day with Whitey who never fails to deliver.
Thanks again
Paul

Great day lads,
Whitey has got a very good reputation, I've gotta get up there myself.
Thanks to the Tackle HQ Steve for showing me a couple of the new Saltiga rods the other day, very nice, plus for taking the time to show me the PR knot. Absolutely awesome looking knot when tied and isn't that hard really once you've been shown. Great work

Wow what a day!!
I highly reccomend this day to anyone who doesn't know much about jigging or is thinking about getting into it! I have never done it before and after a few tips and tricks off Steve i was soon catching the big ones. Steve was great he made sure everyone was ok before he dropped a line and if someone needed a hand he was the first on the scene, and still found time to take great photos!!
A big thanks to Whitey for puting us on the hotspots and my arms are 2 inches longer from the sambos!!
A 10/10 day and two thumbs up!!!

Looks like a good day
props to Whitey for getting you guys on the fish again.
Quite funny how even with all the $1000's of dollars worth of jigs you guys would have had that a $6 sea rock got the best fish

Good to see that the jigs are still working on the dermersals even with this warm water.
Love looking at all the different jigs that people are using too :)
