Tagged Pinky Recapture
Had the interesting experience of re-capturing a fish on Saturday that I had tagged with Tim back in November last year. A little Pinky opf 43cm, had grown 2cm in that time and moved about 2nm west.
I didn't realise it was a tagged fish until I had it in the esky. The tag was well and truly covered in slime and was on the other side of the fish as we landed it. Will be giving the guys at fisheries a ring in the morning.
Has anyone else recaptured their own tagged fish as yet?
Just waiting for the 70 odd cm Dhuie I tagged the same day to show up again in a few years, once its had a chance to put on a few extra kilo's.
Cheers

Did you get a pic Andy?
Had a read of the comments on my Tag sheet and it said it had an enlarged swim bladder. Good to know it survived - For a while anyway.
I know the spot where the Dhu was tagged - Surprised it hasnt been caught again. Maybe on the Auction Trip you might get it?

We did 8 that day. 5 Pinkys, 2 Breaksea, 1 Dhu.
That means there are still 7 more fish we tagged that day out there for you to chase.

nope!
I've recaptured a fair few pink snapper in Cockburn Sound but never mine Andy. Had others recapture mine and one pinky was walk about for 4 years plus (cant remember the exact details) with tag comments (swallowed hook down, flapping on surface, probably die).....didn't, was healthy as!
Good to hear of your recapture Andy....slow growing alright!

Excellent
What are the odds of re-catching your own fish. It shows that that fish didn;t move too mauch in the time between captures.

How do we go about getting
How do we go about getting tags ?
It just goes to show that Pinkys are a tough fish, amazed that you caught one of your own.
BTW> how do we know who has tagged what ? is the phone number on the tag ?

I was talking to Tim the day after and mentoned it, he jokingly said maybe its one of ours, so I texted the number to him and blow me down it was. Rang through the details today. The westag guys said to say hello Tim.

Cool
Well done Andy - You getting your certificate?
Colin - When the Tags are issued the numbers are recorded against the person they are issued to. Was just lucky it was one of mine as I had the records and could give Andy the details that night.
