As other said richter plugs
As other said richter plugs with a fast retrieve (skipping out of water) cheap if you lose them aswell (which you will if your fishing proper tailor areas)

look for the snaggiest ugly
look for the snaggiest ugly reef.
make sure the reef doesnt expose itself and around half a metre plus, cast everywhere possible. retrieve at a constant rate. with plugs, so you can see it skipping along the top.

i use the 1oz but a lot of members go for the larger ones. I use 8lb line on a 2-4kg bream rod off the ski so wouldnt make much sense to use the bigger ones. They cast a mile and ive caught fish from 25cm-62cms on the 1oz lures

reef
Tailor like to sit under the reef or along side and ambush fish as they come over the top. Look for broken water (whitewash) and try to cast on top of reef and expect the strike as it drops off the side. or if you are standing on the reef expect the strike at your feet!

Yep ive been losing about 3
Yep ive been losing about 3 richters a sesh lately. I like reefy areas where there is a lot of wave motion over the reef, the tailor hang close to the inside of the reef waiting for baitfish to be washed over in the whitewash. I retrieve at a speed where the lure skips on the surface and then dips underwater through a lump of chop, if you see fish chasing it but not striking, let it sink for a few inches then start reeming the lure back in, alot of tailor will hit on the pause if theyre being fussy.
For smaller fish around 30cm's, i like the starlo and bushy bream surface lures, just make sure you change the trebles to a couple sizes larger, as the smaller trebles cause heaps of damage to the fish.

I'm a trusty old twisty fan.
I'm a trusty old twisty fan. Tailor, if not always a chance of herring or salmon. As well as many other species. I've also got big buff bream when chasing tailor and the twisty seem to jag well a few big deepsea mullet in my years. Gee those big ones fight harder than salmon!
