There are no fish in Exmouth

Was on an Eco tour today (whale shark) so no fishing, but the water was busting up all around. Heaps of tuna around. Going to try my luck tomorrow.

Tried flicking lures from the lighthouse to Yardie Creek. Threw in heaps of burley and couldn't wake up anything. Trying eastern side beaches tomorrow.

Had a fish up and the
Had a fish up and the southern and northern rock walls at the marina yesterday and caught a small pike.
Today, after stuff all luck, I used 'tides 4 fishing site and fishes at the lunchtime and evening recommended times. Lunchtime was at Larminth jetty where there were a few bream swimming around, and a small mackie that did a pass but it wasn't interested in lures or baits. A few local cast out poppers to where they "always" get queenies but they left after 15minutes as nothing was around.
Last go was at north west reef near the wreck at sunset. Saw a turtle, that was it.
Overall, pretty disappointed. Did the ultra light flight in the morning and there were massive bait balls around with fish going mad, and they were big enough to see from 1000ft, but nothing from the beach. Everyone else I have spoken to on the beach is getting nothing also...

Far out....'Push onto Onslow'
Far out....'Push onto Onslow' Seriously? If you can't catch a fish in Exmouth, there is no way you will catch one in Onslow. If its not on in Exmouth, it's even worse else where.
Ever heard of the root in a brothel story?
just sayin is all.

Accommodation
You will probably find there is bugger all accommodation in Onslow with the work going on there and the grey nomads plus now that the local shop has burnt down the same goes for supplies.
Try some of the accesses down the west side on high tide as well as flicking small lures along the beaches either side of Tantabiddi and Bundegi boat ramps

your right
accommodation is the big drama in Onslow I have a mate that doesn't mind us swagging on his back patio but getting a bit old for that now (might be time to invest in a good camp stretcher) if you beg and plead you might get into the van park otherwise you need to camp

Exmouth Land Based
I've found land based Exmouth has become harder every year. Hire a tinnie from one of the local outfits and hit the bommies inside the reef.

Next time I will definitely
Next time I will definitely hire a boat. My play day money went to an ultra light flight which was awesome. Awesome to see big bust up's, like 100m diameter (comparing to 55 foot boats nearby). From 500 feet up, you could see the fish jumping.
Back in cold Perth now, 9 hours after arriving at Learmonth airport due to a bird strike...

I waded out to the wreck on the last evening up there. Saw a turtle....
Two trips to exmouth, 9 days in total, have landed us a pike and a cod looking thing. First time was with a boat too.

dropped a couple of big GTs
dropped a couple of big GTs between 10-15kg off the shore line last week when the wind had died down, but we have been getting a few of the smaller trevs and goldens as well as a good spangled and some cods, from my usall haunts.
Its the dammed mozzies that are making it hard at the moment, making evening/night fishing near on impossible, even in this mongrel wind

Totally agree. First night at lighthouse beach we got mauled which kept us back near town most other evenings, apart from the last, where i was in waste deep water to get away, and the wife was close behind me. It was a case of run back to the car and drive for the first 200m with the doors open to get the bastards out.

i think everyone needs to
i think everyone needs to loose the illusion of going to exxy casting a line in and cleaning up.
Our first trip of exxy yielded pelgaics and spangos and many of slow days. 2nd trip too exxy we killed the pig.
I think it takes a whole trip out there to suss out the place..
think outside of the box if the sharks are there MOOVE!, don't move to a mark 150 m AWAY. We never had a problem with sharks. maybe one or two days over 24 days of fishing.
Learn how to read your sounder ( I still am) and use it to its advantages. Tides are critical with demercal fishing up there.
a hard days fishing still beats work
