Tough going today

Tough going today in Exxy with a stronger than forecast northerly blowing.  We ended up with a few small bits and pieces and lost a couple of good fish, got a few tuna and didn't see any marlin.  Gully had a similar day and lost a good dolly and also got a few bits and pieces.  Guess you all know who did well today though, bloody lucky bastard (well, his deckie)!  Stay tuned for a few pics I'm sure (reds and monster jack).

Unpredictable winds over the next week, but you gotta be in it to win it. :)

Brett and I ended up with this bag including 70 and 65cm reds and the biggest jack I've ever seen, this thing got it's tail sharked just by the boat but what we got back was nearly 60cm long. Would've loved to have weighed and measured the beast whole. That esky is a 70L model too for size reference.

We were up early sunday

We were up early sunday morning and managed to get a few reds and robbos before the wind picked up, and with the wind came the sharks. Mate pulled up a reds head that woulda given 90cm a nudge. Saturday  we tried something new and got onto a cpl of rubys, until little slugga hooked a 5 ft shark at 300m. not the best hangover cure after a nite at the potty/emergency ward/backpackers pool till 5.30 in the morning.

sounds like a hell of a weekend both onshore and off. What sort of area were the rubys? They're next on my chase list.

Mon, 2011-04-04 22:06

yep that tank is the most unused thing on my boat. Gotta grab a few livies soon and give it a run.

When are you heading home? That was my mate getting pies, he's visiting and it took us 120nm to find him a marlin, they certainly don't seem to be anywhere near the ramps at the moment.

Might give a ruby a nudge as soon as the weather allows.
