Freo - got gumby for a steal

Fri, 2013-10-25 19:18

Freo - got gumby for a steal after staring down the bombers. Thumbs up. Hope he holds up.  Looking forward to better scoring potential. Slyvia a great pick up.  Will thrive in a champion team.  And pick 58 i think. Lost viv mitchie.  Great potential.  Good luck.  Freo have rated him.  Hope he becomes the champion that he can be.  List pick 55 for gumby.  Great value I think.  Overall?  Pretty good trade period.  Filled a key forward hole and improved our midfield and forward depth.

Freo

Fri, 2013-10-25 19:33

Sylvia was a good pick up, gumbo with his injury history signed a deal that is pretty much performance based, and great work from the club.  Unfortunately not many key forwards for sale.  All the best to viv as he won't break into the team but has talent so hopefully he can stay injury free where he is

Port Adelaide checking in

not overly happy with the how the trade period went. Giving away pick 14 was a mistake i think but gaining Polec from brisbane might be the positive behind it all. Added some more midfield with White from Brisbane but i felt that the midfield was not an area we needed to improve the most. Here's hoping to a smoother year on the way to the top.

Pies

Fri, 2013-10-25 20:14

Pretty happy with how the Pies went, pity about Daisy but to be honest we've probably had his best and he wanted out.

Shawy, great player but when you finish eighth steps have to be taken if your going to arrest the slide.

Taylor Adams will be a Luke Ball replacement for the next decade, White and Karnezis? Not sure but Derek Hine doesn't make too many blues.

Looking forward to see who we draft in with picks 6 and 10.

Yeh, was happy about that, we needed a ruckmen and when Mummy went to gws I was wondering who they were going to poach. Been some other big moves tho, obviously Buddy, but Betts to Adelade, Daisy back to Mick's tit. I hope Buddy does his knee round one haha. Free agency is crap, no compenstaion for clubs. would have liked to see the Hawks match the swans offer then they would have to trade. i reckon Kennedy would have been a sweet deal, wed have him back lol

Fri, 2013-10-25 21:57

I reckon the buddy deal is just fraught with danger.   Could be good value for the next year or two, but when he his 32, 33, 34...  hmm tell em they're dreaming...

Yeh, no shit, duno how it

Yeh, no shit, duno how it works, if they had to beat gws's offer and the total contract amount to get him, he obviously wanted to go to the Swans. Will be interesting to see what roll he has at the Swans, with Tippet a focus forward.

 No way. Mcevoy is garbage.

Sat, 2013-10-26 07:06

No way. Mcevoy is garbage. Sure, he takes a good mark around the ground but his tap work is appalling. He provides nothing in that regard. He is also too slow to play forward against defenders. St Kilda are the winners here because by shipping off Mcevoy they effectively stopped Longer from going to the Hawks and nabbed him themselves. Longer is already a better tap ruck than Mcevoy at 20 and is extremely versatile with the ability to go forward - 10 year player there and they got him for half of what he is worth. Masterstroke by the Saints.

No disrespect to big Max

Sat, 2013-10-26 07:53

No disrespect to big Max Bailey but McEvoy is a substantial upgrade on him. Ready made and still room for improvement and his knees are intact. If Longer was that good, then surely the Hawks would've gotten a deal done to bring him to Glenferrie, seeing as the rucks have been Hawthorn's one major long term weakness (can only think of Rob Campbell over the last twenty odd years who has been a home grown ruckman that made it good) and they had the gear to get it done. I am happy with this really...Hawthorn have an excellent record of recycling players that have done the job for the club (Hale, Burgoyne, Lake, Gibson). Plenty of depth right now across all areas.

Can't wait for the next year or two when Hawthorn can use their massive war chest to hopefully poach someone like Dangerfield or Boak. Looking forward to the draft as well, Hawthorn have done pretty well with the picks from about 30-60

Drowned

Sun, 2013-10-27 19:08

Wonder if they got on the piss again to drown their sorrows.

I read another article about how Adam Goodes is still gutted about being called an ape, toughen up princess, I've been called a lot worse than that by school students. Time to build a bridge.

 Being a Saints supporter for

Sun, 2013-10-27 20:43

Being a Saints supporter for more than 30 years, I am seriously concerned where we are heading. With what has gone and nothing to really report back I am worried we won't be allowed to play AFL only VFL until we pick our standards up. I wrote our 2013 season off after round 2and have already written 2014 off as well. Going to be a looooonnnnnggggg year. Saints supporter for life though.
