Treat your new owner well girl .................
I still remember the feeling, it was like Christmas morning and I was just about to unwrap a huge present. It’s a funny sensation, the one where you know what’s inside and you’re still you’re excited.
She was like a big toy that needed some assembly and I decided she would get the best toys I could find. Extra care was taken with all installations, all glass edges epoxy sealed, all splices soldered and covered with glue lined heat shrink tubes and all plugin connections coated with deoxit. All screws holes were sealed with 3M 5200.
Once done, she took us out to play and she didn't disappoint, we ran with the dolphins, played with seals. She took us everywhere and went about doing it in style. She had a nice solid feel to her and was never unsettled regardless of the weather conditions.
She found us some fish, including my first metro Mackie
During Salmon season she inspired enough confidence to back right in to where the fish were holding
She even helped an unnamed regular deckie of mine practice his unorthodox method of hooking fish
When we went diving, she always knew where the crays were and we never came back empty handed.
She also provided us with the ability to have mini get aways at Rotto, which the kids just love
but sadly it was also her undoing …………………..
The kids are now asking “Dad, can we overnight at Rotto?”
It was a tough decision, but I was approached by a buyer that I know will look after her well, infact she will now have her own shed to live in, but never the less, it’s really sad to see her go.
Bye, bye girl, thank you for all the good times and look after your new owner well ……………………………

Really well written Alfred,
Really well written Alfred, right up there with the great posts for mine. Funny how attached we can become to our boats, but sometimes we have to let go especially if it keeps the kids involved in the lifestyle you obviously love. I got alot of comfort when I sold my last boat knowing the owner had a young fella that was gonna have some great times on it with his old man. Look fwd to the future posts with the new boat.

Was a highly specced out rig when a mate of mine was looking at it a couple of years ago for sale.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Turns out that when you snooze you loose. I waited till the check cleared before contacting the seller of another boat I was looking at and it sold that morning, so the hunt is on again.

John, now looking for an overnighter for weekends at Rotto. Still looking at Whalers, but will consider others if they are up to scratch.

Great write up. A good boat
Great write up. A good boat is like a part of the family, especially when there are so many memories in it.
