Trolling for squid

Headed to a new spot yesterday afternoon,,no prizes for guessing where,,funny thesquid were a lot smaller on average than other ares in the Sound, but still got 13 squid trolling which is a first for me,,normally i drift or throw out and wind back in,,never saw another boat on the water, which is bloody great for an Easter long weekend.

Squid were yummo, caught two cuttlefish 1/2 the sizeof the ig as well, lol (let them go)

Well it seems its not a new idea East Coast kayakers have been doing it for a while i have just discovered.

I got the idea from folks catching squid trolling HB lures targeting fish,,i thought hang on,,if they can catch them why don't i try at ultra low speed.

I guess you have to be real careful about getting inked when you chase squid in a yak mate.

To tell the truth Col,,one off the teenee weenie cuttlefish covered the yak with ink,,not nice manners at all i thought as i was trying to let him go ,lol

My squid go staight into a little esky where they ink to there hearts content,,but if i accidently don't put the lid on and tip it,,i get the ink from 10 squid or at once on my shining kayak,,whick i have found out,,lol

Wrass > you are correct on the lure but i call them Harmitsu or Harmys same thing i guess.
