Two Rocks Boat Ramp out of action
Submitted by Magneto on Thu, 2013-12-19 16:34
Hi, I hope I am in the right section to post this...anybody wanting to launch at Two Rocks will be disappointed. The area is still fenced off as a work site as work on the ramp has come to a stop, Locals wanted to push away fencing so as to allow launching but heavy boats would need a 4 x 4 to drag out such is the rubble bottom. One such Boater rocked up and was so disappointed he wanted to set fire to the parked loader and digger according to a one of the locals who talked him out of it. It was mentioned in the Joondalup local rag that work was to be completed on the 2 Dec maybe a delay in the precast concrete has caused the delay. If anyone has more info please post. Hope this stop any wasted effort......cheers

Two Rocks
The ramp itself has not been touched, if they moved the concrete pad and fence out of the way it would be exactly as it was 3 months ago. Apparently there is a problem with the new concrete pads and the supplier is now out of business. If they could at least open it for restricted use it would solve the problem of no ramp before Jurien Bay!

Yearly ramp pass
Having just purchased a yearly ramp pass in October, I was not very impressed with the ramp work delays and will seek a extension to the 12 months once the ramp opens from the club. There was some talk that the WA gov wants to take over control of the ramp next year so I think that motavated the ramp repairs as the ramp fees go the the Yacht Club as it is not listed on the WA public ramps list. Regarding the precast ramp panels ( I should have taken a photo) when I was there last, one of the drive on panels had been dropped off and looking at the precast traction pattern I didn't think it would give much traction. It was approx 40x40 groove running at 45 degrees at approx 200 -250 mm spacings and that was it no revervse crossing for more grip. The landcruiser will be OK but some smaller wheels may have trouble. Maybe that is the delay, perhaps the pattern is not the desired one and needs to be redone. Anyway hope it's not to long.
Merry Christmas and a Happy new year to u all
