Tyre sizes - 2002 Mazda Bravo

Hey guys, I know I could probably just call a tyre place but it's just so much easier posting on here!

Does anyone have experience with putting larger tyres on a bravo/courier?

I want to go a taller tyre and perhaps a little fatter but that's not a huge issue. I'm looking towards something like a 235/85r16

If anybody has any comments or works at a tyre mob, please let me know!

Cheers

Wed, 2010-12-22 11:03

Hey Lunker,

235/85r16 tyres will fit on a 5.50F,6J,6K,6L,6.00F,6.5J,6.5L,7J,7K,7L,7.5J STYLE Rim. Basically 5.5' to 7.5, rim width.

6.5 being the better

The tyres themselves are 235mm section width, overall diametre inflated is 806mm Hwy tread and 812 traction tread.

and are good for about a tonne at 50psi

Weather they rub on the guards im not sure of though but with those measurment you should be able to tell.

regards

Me mate has 32 inch tyres on

Me mate has 32 inch tyres on his courier. looks sweet as with the lift kit and body lift he has got too. Wouldnt want to go much bigger as it has sucked a bit of power. He reckons the tyres weigh about 40kg each lol.

Hmm probably not.I actually

Hmm probably not.

I actually have a dual cab courier, I rekon you could get 31s but 32s would be too big.

Good thing is but, With torsion bars in the frount, you can just wind them up for more lift. No new parts needed (mabee shockies if you go too high). The rear is a different story with leaf springs, but I have heard you can get them "reset" but you will have to talk to a mechanic for that.

Besides, 31 inch tyres are common as and really cheap, about $150 each. Would look sweet as on the courier.

You might need a gps as well to tell how "fast" you are actually going. My mate does 70 km/h when the speedo says 60 km/h

careful on the torsion bars

Be careful when adjusting the torsion bars that you dont go too high this a common problem.

If you adjust them too high you will top the upper wishbone out on the bump stop which will cause you less wheel travel thn at standard height.

You will always be changing CV boots as well as you go up the CV boots rub, just dont  go too high on the adjustment.

My recomendation on torsion bar front cars is just go up 1 tyre size or if you want bigger you need to look at body lifts.

Cheers Colin

with Sherbs, Be careful, any changes to the wheel diameter will alter speedo, odo etc.  Also, can bugger up the gearing.
