UPDATE - Who wants to come to PNG for huge Dogtooth/GT/Napoleon?
Want a shot at huge Dogtooth Tuna, Napoleon Wrasse, GTs and more? After reading the internet hype recently about the new potential destination of Eastern Fields, I have decided to put on a trip for 2015 to go and see what all the fuss is about and looking for a few anglers to join.
Eastern Fields is a huge area that has seen essentially zero recreational fishing and remains largely unexplored. The nearest place I had seen fished was Ashmore Reef, where spectacular results have been attained. I'm extremely excited about the possibility of being able to throw a lure where it is likely nobody has thrown one before, to get a true chance at a trophy fish.
The trip leaves from Port Moresby fishing with Sportfishing PNG and involves a 100nm sea voyage to Eastern Fields. Fishing will be 6 days of jigging and popping from 7 to 12 December 2015, with the new moon falling on the 11th, which should ensure spectacular fishing.
So far only one exploratory trip has been done to the region where bad weather prevented access to the outside of the reef, but great results were still had. A write up of that trip can be found here http://ebbtideadventures.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/exploratory-trip-to-eastern-fields-with.html
We still have a few spaces free for this trip, so please drop me a message if you are keen to get involved. Trip price AUD$6000 plus flights to Port Moresby includes luxury mothership with 3 * 24ft tenders to fish from plus all meals.
Please drop me a PM if you are keen.
Cheers,
Dan

UPDATE
Bit of an update guys.
For starters, there is 1 spot left on this boat. If you want it, get in quick!
Also - just read a brief report from the second trip that has been out there. They are there now, on their second day of fishing. Weather a bit tough at first, but this afternoon they got outside the reef for a short session, and the results are just as I'd hoped.
"hit the honey pot this afternoon, striking a school of GTs with consistent double hook ups. Schools of GTs (estimated at around 60 GTs) were seen right on the outer Western Wall and would follow right up to the boat. 35 GTs were landed with the largest GT weighed in at 45kgs plus a heap of 25 to 35kg fish"
Not bad for an afternoon session with 3 anglers....
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Hey guys,Had a few messages
Hey guys,
Had a few messages asking me about this, so thought I would clarify.
You get 6 full days fishing - the sailing time doesn't come out of that. You sail out on the night of 6 December overnight, fish full 6 days 7-12, then steam back overnight on 12th. Back to port at 930am on 13th to make flights out. If you work Monday to Friday and are travelling from Aus it can be done with 5 days off work (7th to 11th).
Weather wise - November to Feb is the season when generally they get the best conditions, so that's why we've picked the dates we've picked.
Cheers,
Dan
