Video editing software

I've got a few underwater videos from diving at night and a few of some amberjack under the boat and wanted to upload them to youtube or similar. Needs a bit of editing and compiling though. The files come from the camera in a .mov format which windows movie maker doesnt like. I could convert them all to avis but dont want to if I dont have to. Just basic cutting and moving really, so dont need anything fancy.

So what programs are you guys using to edit some of your videos?

seems to be the easiest, but its a pain to convert files to become compatible.

and he told me to get Adobe Premiere Elements. I have never used it, but I know my mate has got his shiznits together and thats his recommendation. His second place was Coral Video Studio Pro - he emphasised getting the pro version though.

Do some reading I guess, find some reviews?

I only work on mac. And it's bloody easy. imovie does everything. Then if you want you can also burn through idvd to build a collection of fishing dvds.

Final Cut Pro on a Mac Book

Final Cut Pro on a Mac Book Pro and a 5G tower is the ultimate way to go for high end  results, I cant recomennd anything else, cause PC software for editing really sucks, PC software is for losers not artists.

Well, fathom, despite having a PC, i'm not a loser or an artist.  Dont need some swish editing software. Windows movie maker is fine for what I want, just completely useless at .mov files (I think microsoft just get jealous and wont let you use someone elses format).

Just thought there may be something basic, simple and free that someone uses? Looks like i might have to just convert all the videos first (damn you microsoft)

I would recommend Corel

I would recommend Corel Video Studio. It's quite cheap and you get 30 days free trial which is enough to edit one vid for free ;)

Hi Ya,

May be too late but check out this site

As for you Fathom, I object to your loser statement too.  Are you are a loser who thinks he is an artist or just a turkey who shoots off his mouth (read keyboard) without thinking?

Cheers.
