Hey mate, Im heading down
Hey mate, Im heading down there on the 5th staying at rest point for 5 nights, been down there years ago with the dingy's but taking the bigger boat this time to give offshore a go.
I did go out the channel for a look in the dingy when we were there but not for long was to rough.
Anyone have much luck off there I always usually go north of Perth?
Any tips of info would be appreciated
Cheers,

It's alaways a challenge
It's alaways a challenge picking a line across the sand but see plenty of bigs boats doing it every year.
Made this vid last year with the intention of helping people new to the area as I can remember being a bit apprehensive our first couple of times out.
We've done Walpole for the last 5 or 6 years but as Rest Point caravan park no longer allows dogs our Walpole days have sadly come to an end.

I was down there earlier on
I was down there earlier on in the year, it was shallow at the entrance to the channel markers heading out, about 50cm tide dependent, then when you get to the mouth it was under a metre and follow the channel close to the headland on your starboard, having said that there was a post on here last week saying the channel is now more to port. Best bet is to head down to Rest Point in the arvo and have a talk to fishos. Either way mate at 7M I think your pushing it,might be some dredging going on.

It's that last sand Channel
It's that last sand Channel that gets very shallow as you do a lefthand turn to head out thru the Entrance. Getting across that even when you come back will be shallow.

I was down there 2 weeks ago
I was down there 2 weeks ago and it was very shallow, a previous post has a clip of the way I would usually go but that is not the way the channel goes at the moment. The clip shows the headland close on the right hand side on the way out but the boats (2) I saw coming in were at least 150m over to the left near the beach break. A local was nice enough to warn me, he had a 5.5m boat and he said it was dicey for him however the two boats I saw would have been at least that big, one of them was a small comercial boat. I have been going to Walpole for about 10 years and it's the first time I have seen it like this. The people at rest point would know if that is where you are staying, good luck.

Sounds like the bloke the other day has carved a channel for ya. Youll have to give up that flash outdoor kitchen for the tent. Ring me if you need any spare props bought down.
