well heads

Fished the well heads yesterday. Caught plenty of 20 kg plus sambos, also 400lb rigs bitten straight through, leather jackets i think. No grey banded or red snapper. Long way to travel to pull up big sambos from 200m+. Fished there other times of the year with great results, has any one had the same experience this time of the year?

Cheers Dave

Colin, not to sure how old, or if they are oil or gas. Quality fish have been taken from them, thought it could be just the time of year.

Gidday Muss - have not

Gidday Muss - have not personally been out there, but know crew that have. So far as the grey band are concerned what i've eard is that they dominate the catches out there through autumn/winter/spring. Crew i've heard head out there on those magic all day glass in winter/spring and score some 20kg + cod and the odd dhu/nanny. Better luck next time as it sure is a loooong way to go form some samboes :-(

No worries, that's them.

No worries, that's them. Maybe start saving for fuel for the next trip - around March ay? Wink

Also heard of a "mythical cod hole" out there, but yet to score an invite yet...Not that I could reach bottom with my measly 250m of line.
