What is the best 10ft+ spin rod for metro rock hopping/beach casting for tailor, skippy, herring?

Howdee gang.

Can you recommend a light weight 10ft+ spinning rod for metro rock hopping/light beach casting?

I use a Nitro distance spin 7', but I'm sick of dragging the fish up the rocks instead of lifting.

The rod has to be light weight to hold all day, 2 pieces and sensitive enough to cast a berly cage to catch gardies or a small sinker rig for sand whiting.  The biggest fish it will be used to catch is a tailor.

Thanks for your help.

Up to $350 max.

It really depends on your budget

Xzoga make nice light, but strong rods that are great, but are priced towards the top of the range.
As a value for money rod I still can't go past the Big Boss 6812 TL. It is a 12 footer, but it is certainly light enough to use for spinning off the rocks.

The Nitro Sniper is 10'6" 3-6kg, really light, sensitive tip and still has some balls when you load up. Could be an option. about $300 too.

Throw some metals or soft plastics around the reefy areas near Cottesloe and you should find some decent tailor right now.

Can't wait to test this rod

Mon, 2009-10-12 21:37

Can't wait to test this rod out on the 70cm Snook I've been getting off the rocks.

Def pays to have extra rod length and casting power when fishing the rocks.

These days you have to cast 20m just to get past the bloody blowies!
