What have you been eating lately?

Hi all.

I have been a very lucky boy this festive season. So far i have been feasting on Dhu thanks to Brendan, crabs in Mandurah, Hapuka-Bass Groper-Blue eye Trevella thanks to Harro, Exmouth prawns, local crayfish, fresh South West Marron, King George and flathead. The blue Eye has taken the first prize so far (just). It has been a culinary delight.

Looking forward to some more ocean delights.

We are spoilt.

Dave

Funny you mention it we had Coronation Trout for dinner and Cobia. First time I've tried Cobia been waiting for years and it was superb. Though the Coro was nicer.

Just my mum's recipe. It's a sweet curry, great for any less desirable tasting fish with firm flesh.

Thai Green Curries are good for Sambo

Thu, 2012-01-19 14:15

Under 15kg sambo's though. Bigger ones tend to have worms and parasites.

Blackarse

Sun, 2012-01-15 20:40

For lunch today we had blackarse fillets (from yesterday's fishing trip) lightly pan fried in butter, with a side serve of salad....while Hilfy was running amock at the WACA.

Tonight we had baked blackarse, done on the bbq in alfoil....turned out a treat.

Mrs gates had a feed of crabs for lunch yesterday that the boys scooped on Friday night. Now we're out of crabs and fish so that's my excuse to head out fishing next weekend....weather permitting

regards

Over the festive season and since

Thu, 2012-01-19 14:22

A couple of Crays (courtescy of Till), KG, Baldie, Sambo thai green curry, chilli crabs, pasta with whiting (m-in-law recipe to die for), smoked herring, rolled out gardies (kept a few for mackie bait too), sashimied skippy with soy and ginger and plenty of dhufish nuggets.

The species that has eluded me these past few months have been pinkies (haven't seen a single one in 5 or 6 trips out). Weird???
