Guys, just bought myself a new boat and was after people opinion as to weather it was a good or bad deal and if its good enough to get me to rotto on a good day as ive only had one snapper in the last year and am getting hungry for another big fish!!
Boat 5.28m Stacer stingray, aluminium 1990 maybe?
Trailer 2007 Dunbier, with catwalk, brakes etc
Engine 1997 70hp Evinrude and 1996 15 hp johnson
has furuno colour sounder, furuno gps, 3 fuel tanks, marine radio, cd player, new epirb, nav lights, anchors, anchor well, bilge pump, and im sure there is other bits ive missed
Any thoughts on the boat or its capabilitys would be appreciated.
Cheers

hi mate, maybe a pic of the boat so we can see, might be better than a description, as they say "picture = 1000 words".
to fish or not to fish...as if there was an option.

What people will pay for it
Your boat is only worth what people will pay for it and unfortunately the market isn't very strong at the moment. Condition of boat and trailer and age of motor play a huge part in value. I'd say as a rough estimate if it was in decent nick of about $8K. I've been looking around at boats lately (I was going to buy new, but the proposed changes to the fishing zones/rules have me nervous about spending big coin on a boat that well may be worth a lot less if the government keep changing the playing field for us rec anglers).
Your boat would piss it in to Rotto on a decent day (10knot breeze, less than 2m swell).

You could probably get 10k
You could probably get 10k if you make sure its neat and tidy, and it presents well. If you sell it, make sure you play to the strong points like the new trailer and colour sounder. Its the right time to sell with people wanting to be on the water for summer. But as others have said, Your boat is well and truly capable of getting to rotto on a good day. Your adventuring capabilities will grow with experience.
