Famous quote from Greg Chapple..I'm not batting poorly,
I just keep getting out. :) ........ The Wet Coat Toasters seemed to get hurt in many of the hard ball gets. They have a few players with strapped shoulders. Poor Nat-A-Noohie played a stellar game until he was run off his feet in the last, not sure what rests he got but could not jump in the 4th. I don't think there are many answers this deep into the season. Chin up supporters, it's not likely to be a finals series but you won't be far off it.

The Pee and Poos strike again
I very much doubt that grandfather Embley will be fronting up for the next few games, not very sporting dropping both knees in to you oponents ribs then trying to pushhis head in to the dirt.

yup
You think Embley must have another kid on the way so he can get 6 weeks off... Him and Kerr looked very slow last night.

Ah you can generalise but there are some loyal hard arse supporters like me. I hate the chardonnay set that jumped on when they started having success in the 90's they can all fark off. I've noticed pretty well all the negative feedback on this thread is from Pies supporters....why is that?? I think Paully could could probably shed some light on this lol

What negative feedback? It's all factual, or have you beaten one team in the top 8 yet and I haven't noticed?
Hawks were lucky they kicked straight, 11.1 at one stage could easily be 3.8 on another day. Ala last years GF.

Yep, something they seemed to
Yep, something they seemed to have addressed, set shots going through mid post height. Always more accurate with your head over the ball, dont need to lean back for a set shot at goal inside 40m, both teams forward 50 entry was deep most of the time, to enable these shots. Our inaccuracy in the last qtr however meant that we only beat them, not flog them and the score board gave their players some urge towards the end, need to put teams away when its there to be done

Wayne Carey?
I'm an avid WCE supporter, but they aren't in form this year.
I have it on good authority that woosh is gettin a divorce from his missus, and probably won't sign on again, even if they do offer him another year or 2. Will be interesting to see who we get, and how we go under a new coach.

Like Carlton last week, WC
Like Carlton last week, WC wanted to measure themselves against one of the comps yard sticks and gave it a good crack. I expected they would, few players back and a lift in intensity is all that was needed. Beat us in important stats but we were more efficient going forward. For me I think WC could have won if they took the risk and backed themselves through the center into 50, but trhat goes for any team. I guess recent form drops the confidence, or vice versa (along with lesser skill and ability lol) and for too much of the game where it mattered most, they seeked to play wide, easier space to run into because a non pinpoint pass and turn over would mean an almost certain goal to the Hawks. I think the Hawks tackle rate lifted in the second half which was pivotal, we were great every time we used the footy, just needed to restrict WC ball use a bit. Love watching offensive games with plenty of goals scored, unlike any Cockburn W Anchors games lol. As most games these days, the umpiring is getting a little confusing. Good win Hawks, too many stand out players again across the field, and I agree Matt, it helps us to have teams really contest us, but the Cats hoodoo, when are we guna break it?

Give me a winning defensive
Give me a winning defensive team to watch, rather than a losing offensive team. If the offensive game plan doesn't work, what is plan B to fall back on??? case in point, geelong in the nineties, north Melbourne this year??? cant win finals with offensive football only.

Cant win games against
Cant win games against offensively strong sides that you struggle to stop when you cant score heavily in return. The will to run on the attack at the end of the game is easier then the will to chase, tackle and be defensive when your tired, and holding on to a lead.....hmmm Essendon round 3, nearly Richmond round 5, nearly Collingwood round 7, nearly Adelade round 10, all these teams came from behind in the last quater against Freo, how are they going to (havent) stop the top sides?

I was referring to the Hawks whom you said were going to fall away this year. We have, as Geelong do too, a lot of different players since 2008, develop the younguns and recuit worthy players from other clubs (Hale, Lake, Burgoyne, Gibson, Gunston, Guerra), no reason why a club cant be successful for a long period of time rather than finishing bottom of the ladder a few years after a prem (WC) and not be in the hunt for sometime after (WC lol)

Agreed
Suma did his time at WCE. Played, won premierships then assistant coach for another, job done.
Besides he's a Freo boy through and through. Played all his junior forty in Freo so makes sense for him to try to be involved when it looks like they 'might' have half a chance.

Ahh??
Gee there are alot of Eagles haters out there. Has anyone ever sat back and asked why they hate them so much? A fair bit of mis informed info on here to!
Darling was nicknamed the king by teammates because he always gets the trainers to strap his ankles first (and before you all have a crack it is pretty much mandatory for all players to have their ankles strapped!) I seriously cannot believe people are ripping this p*ss outta him. The bloke is 21 years old and already palying the footy he is playing. You can't fault someone who never gives up and he has tremendous skill and no one can argue that!
If woosha goes next year for what ever reason he decides he will be replaced by scotty burns! ready made coach with alot of smart about the game! What ever happens woosha will leave a legend, came into the club with it being a shambles and restored it to glory. You people want to rip into them about falling to the bottom for a couple of years......take 12 premiership players out of the hawks or cats side over a year (including someone of chris judds calibre) and see where you end up?
Love it how everybody gives the Eagles shit about drugs (and now the bombers). Both clubs came forward and clearly stated they had a drug problem and both put measures in place to fix those problems.....now there must be some really blind people living under rocks here if they think their favourite club doesn't have a drug culture. Something like 40% of aussies have used illicit drugs, apporximately 150 people are involved in any footy club.... I'll let you do the math on that!
The fact of the matter is the Eagles season has gone to shit, they showed alot more determination friday night and although it was close it wasn;t good enough! Another case of missed oppurtunities which can't keep happening. They will be fine, maybe not this year but next year! I still believe they will win their next flag before the dorkers win their first!
Hawks for the flag this year! They will break their hoodo against the cats in a prelim and knock off Sydney or Collingwood on the big stage!
Guess I'll just sit back and wait.......
Cheers

Eagles didnt win, but they wernt bad either. Just need to keep some consistency going into this week against the bombers.
With upsets to the cats, and Sydney, leaves the ladder in a bit a of a mess. Talking now teams may only require 11 wins for a finals birth.

Its up to them now
Nothing we as supporters can do. We just have to hope they played like Friday night with a bit more.
Very disgusted in Embley. I always thought he was a fairer player than that. Not only the knee, but then pushing his face into the dirt. I am sure it didnt hurt much, just very poor form.
Essendon off a bye, six days rest for the Eagles??
I agree they have to beat a top 8 team so the next few weeks will show whether we have anything to cheer about this year. At least the other WA team, and yes BJ and carnarvonite they are my second favourite, is holding the sandgropers aloft.
