Who needs to go down south to catch salmon
While all the keen Perth landbased anglers are eagerly awaiting news that the salmon run has started down south, Sherbs and Damo though they would get the jump on everyone and warm up on the recent run of metropolitan salmon.
Sherbs caught his on a parternoster rig, baited with blue bait, fishing in a nice surf gutter, while Damo had his StarloStick in action working metal lures near a reef edge.
For those who aren't aware, there has been quite a good run of reasonable sized salmon in Perth in recent months.
Woodmans Point has held a good school or two, while the northern beaches from Swanbourne to Trigg have all turned up the occassional good size fish.
So if you are keen to get into the salmon this season, why not warm up on your local Perth beach - like Sherbs and Damo.
All the best, Colin Hay

Salmon
Yeah, hope you blokes have a cracker salmon run this year.
Great fish to cut your sportfishing teeth on if your that way inclined, not to mention your young ones if you have any.
Definitely one fish I miss catching up here. Love seeing pods of them chasing down your surface lures like dogs after a ball.

These salmon have been hanging around Perth for much of
the summer. I am pretty sure they are not forward scouts for the big run. Hopefully these ones will stick around until the big schools come.

Salmon trout
They are the result of last seasons run,not left overs.More than likely they will soon head south passing the adult fish on the way.Have found it rare for the big and smaller fish to be in the same school, its always one or the other not both at once

These ones appear to be in fairly small schools and
tend to be located around reefs. Highly unlikely you will see a big black patch of them moving Mr Otoshi
It will be a different story when the proper salmon schools come through.
