Why do people choose bait over lures for mulloway?

Is it a better hook up rate or is it just more easier and convenient?
Would a mullet imitation lure be a good idea or are you better off sticking to live bait?
Just want to get some opinions, thanks.

I've had occasions where they won't touch baits, but the soft placcys got hit constantly. 6-7" paddle tails did the damage.
It's really a matter of what style of fishing you're doing. Soaking a livey is a much better option IMO if you're shore based and don't know for certain where they are.

If your LB fishing and there
If your LB fishing and there is no structure to cast too, bait would probably the better option. Because 50% of the time your lure probably wont be in the hit zone meaning you are less likely to get a hit from a passing fish. However if you are casting to a structure you may be able to awaken a fish with your constant casting. In the end there are no right ways to fish.... try them all until you get it sussed.

Metro fishing I got all my
Metro fishing I got all my fish on baits except for one I got on a plastic, albany fishing is different as because of the number of small bream any baits even liveys get picked to bits so lures that are to big to get attacked by bream are about the only option, most guys are using 3-5" plastics or 100mm diving minnows but myself and my brother have had great success on stickbaits up to 180mm to imitate the mullet they are feeding on up river.
always looking for a new challenge!!
