WTF ?

Can somebody please explain to me how Yamaha can ask $1544.32 for an LP fuel pump to suit an F225 ?

The only explanation to me is "robbery".

I've sourced one in Florida for $US140 (new), so with postage will cost me $A283 delivered to my door from the other side of the world.

I'm all for supporting local, even if it does cost a little more, but the price difference here is unbelievable.

Even with the Aussie dollar

Mon, 2016-01-18 07:27

Even with the Aussie dollar down, it's still mostly cheaper to import the parts yourself & fit them.
I get most of my car parts from USA, I have them within 10 days & at half the cost if not less than suppliers here.
I agree with supporting local businesses but sometimes you just wanna shake your head at the prices they charge, especially if you know how much they are before importing.

Name the supplier.

at $1500 I think you should name the supplier.

then name who you got the parts from.

Australians get plenty of rip off buying stuff that's for sure.

I won’t name the dealer, I’m

I won’t name the dealer, I’m sure their hands are tied, price would be set by Yamaha and not the dealer.

The replacement pump from the US is an “Axiom”, sourced on Ebay, but a Google search will bring up plenty of other places to purchase.

The following is copied from the Axiom web site : “Axiom fuel pumps are built on the same production lines that produce Honda, Yamaha fuel pumps. Premium pump made by OEM manufacturer”.

The Axiom part number is identical to the Yamaha part number.

I recently replaced my LP fuel pump in my F200
saved myself $500 by sourcing one in the US with delivery to my door.
I was quoted between $1000- $1450 from Yamaha dealers in Perth
I bought genuine though not a Axiom pump

Colt_Striker,Was about to

Tue, 2016-01-19 11:18

Colt_Striker,

Was about to head out Sunday before last, launched, started motor, it was idling nicely as I re-arranged a few  things, then just about to leave the ramp and motor coughed a couple of times and stopped.

No warning at all it was about to die. Would fire but not run.

Dropped boat off to Ian at Henderson Marine Services and he confirmed the problem was a fuel pump. There was no warning prior to it stopping and I’m lucky I was still at the ramp when it died.

Ian has loaned me a second hand pump to get me going until the new one arrives, then I’ll swap them over and give his back.

Similar symptoms to The Saint

Tue, 2016-01-19 12:04

Similar symptoms to The Saint but 20nm offshore, found the 5 amp fuel pump fuse blown.
Replaced the fuse and would go fine for the next few trips then fail again repeat the process. Finally pump failed and was blowing the fuse all the time, Replaced the pump.
Bench tested the old pump to confirm it was faulty and it was constantly blowing the fuse

You will probably find when they replaced the pump they replaced the fuse to.
Fuses are located above the fuel pump there are a few there they have yellow, green and brown covers fuses are behind those. Front of the engine top R/H side

 Why's that? I only pay

Tue, 2016-01-19 20:23

Why's that? I only pay around $500 for my 90 4str Suzi which I reckon is very reasonable as they go through the boat at the same time, test batteries, steering, trailer etc.
