yabbies hunt

hi, im not sure if this is the right place to ask. where do u go to catch yabbies, near public access for cars. i heard now you cant use those net pot kinda trap but only allowed open top trap. i live near armadale, so would like to give it a go near by.

As a safety measure
I would get a pamphlet from fisheries about fresh water crustations so that you don't catch small marron by mistake, sorry can't help with locations

You can youse traps on private property
Armadale all creeks and drains use to have them in many years ago ,also use to get big koonacks. Unsure now. Definatley don’t use traps in them ( public areas). Now is time for yabbies there all coming out now water is warming. Pick any little creek or drain , clear ones . Have a walk with torch and have a look. Definatley have a look at pamphlet from fisheries to make sure you know the difference from marron,koonacks and gilges . You may be very suprised what you find . Good luck.
