you are all a bunch of f)$&ktards... every single one of you.

so,

whenever the government/fisheries/etc implement or propose a change in either bag limits, marine parks, demersal closures, etc, every single person on here jumps up and down about it, and whinges like a mutherf@@&$er about how wrong it is, and how its their right in WA to catch fish, or a feed, or teach their kids how to fish, blah blah blah.

as soon as some one wants to actually do something proactive about it - http://fishwrecked.com/forum/keep-australia-fishing-convoy-we-need-you - we get 3 takers, out of a potential membership on fishwrecked that is in the 10's of thousands.

hang your heads in shame.

if these new marine parks, etc manage to get through the cracks, and you did nothing about it, then you've got no one to blame except yourselves, and i dont want to hear you whinge about it on here.

fair enough if youve got a legitimate excuse, but if your anything like me, you would have definately taken a sickie to actually go fishing a few times, and this should be no different.

load up on piss or something and make a day of it, but for f&@& sake, get around this guys.

Amen Big John

I think most reasonable people see Scotto's angle here.  Some of the more precious FW members may have got their knickers in a twist, while missing the point.  It's a slap in the face wake up for the people of (a)perth(etic)

I'm there and hopefully drag some more along.

I don't see what the big deal is? The bloke is just trying to get some attention to a subject that every single person that has commented in this thread cares about? I call my mates way worse than that if they don't get me a beer from the fridge while they are grabbing their own! See ya there!

Don't forget if you can or can't make it to the rally you can also join up to be members of the Shooters AND FISHERS party.

$30 is all it takes , PM me your address and I will send out a shiny new membership form.

Scotto I really hope you are a member also , it takes politicians to make the laws.

get's a lot of their money from the gov't so they wont step on any toes and even in their mission statement they are not a political party they are a representative org for the recreation fisher, thats why I didn't renew my recfishwest membership and joined the shooters and fishers party, they represent just about all outdoor activities.

As most people have to drive 4X4's to get their boat to the water or to their fishing spot as well as shooters to get to their hunting areas, they also support access to state forests for driving and hunting (have you seen how many FERAL pigs, goats and rabbits etc in there and the feral cats and wild fox's kill billion's of native animals a year) motorbike and quad riders should have someone standing up for them too as well as horse riders, they are all for opening up land that the greens have locked us out of, a mob of feral pigs can destroy a huge watering hole making it unavailable to the native animals but a motor bike riding along a fire track or a 4X4 driving along it is harming it , if anything they should be applauding us as we use to keep the fire access roads clear for the fire trucks now the DEC have to pay people to do it (or don't get it done at all) and they don't do half as good a job others were doing for free, I have see a few clean up's being started on this site I don't see any green groups out there helping also on 4X4 sites the same.

The S&F party are putting up people to get seats in gov't both state and federal, $30 to be a member and   0.00 to vote for them , Rick  is a fisher and shooter from the info I have found out about him and speaking to him as well, the WA candidate of the S&F party is ready to take on the govt for fishers and shooters rights and are looking straight at the greens and PEW etc but they can't  do much if people don't vote them in, you just have to look at what they have done in NSW for fishers and shooters to see just what is able to be done.

How many hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars are we putting into rural communities when we go for our trips away to the bush either to fish or hunt I went fishing with some mates down South recently we stopped off in a rural town and spent a few hundred dollard on fuel and probably half again on food and drinks for the rest of the trip, lock everything up and that store will close pretty quickly, open up the forsts and nat parks for accessesing our old fishing spots and that same store will double in size.

I am a serious fisher , I have a few notches on my belt in helping fishing programmes as well as tagging over 2500 fish for the tag and release programes and I was the first to post up about the fisheries wanting frames,

I got the ball rolling in this rally getting the S&F party to be present, so don't think I am not a fisher , I am also a hunter and target shooter being a secretary to a club and representing them at other commitees etc , I do my part but it's in the back ground , I only mention it here to show I am  not sitting on my ar$e doing nothing even tho I will not be attending this rally , I may indeed attend this as I have been asked to help represent the S&F by passing out membership forms and answering any question that people may have.

Thats it, JMHO &

END OF RANT.

 edit for spelling

Recfishwest can help, and are one of the groups behind the scenes making sure this event gets up.

The funding which helps RFW operate is partically from everybodies license fees. This idea that RFW wont bite the hand that feeds it is a furphy, especially now when we have a elections coming up soon.

Commonwealth Marine Parks

Having personally met with Tony Burke and/or his staff several times over the last 2 years about the lack of science behind this greenwash, I believe RFW have given his office well considered advice whilst remaining professional and non-political.

Trouble is these new marine parks are all about POLITICs and nothing to do with science.

WE warned him, he didnt listen or outright lied to our face (He said at last meeting there would be no sanctary zone in the Rotto Trench!)

So time to send them a message that we wont put up with their bullshit.

More than happy that The Shooters and Fishers Party get politically active and ride in on this protest.

Good on you all for making the effort to get along on the day..........

well done scott for showing some passion mate..........love ya work

Scotto, initial reaction got my heart pumping and wanted to send a nasty PM. Now that I have calmed down, love your work! You have certainly got people to take notice, and hopefully inspired a few of us to get off the couch.

I applaud your passion, glad you are on our side. Shame a few got their feathers ruffled (me included) but I reckon your post has had the desired effect. Reckon the poor fisho off Leeman would have been proud of you.

Hats off.

the answer to your question is because it will be too detremental to there economy! and personally i dont think the yanks would sit around and let them do it! they see us as a push over so this is why they have started here! once they screw us they will have a good reason to try in other countries!

Why do they want it here?

Sat, 2012-08-11 12:21

Why do they want it here? It's because the government are a soft touch with the Green's fist up their arse. Pew and their ilk have seen Australia as an easy target. Pew didn't want to do anything about the Gulf of Mexico because they claimed it would be economically irresponsible to do so, so they looked this way. Total joke.

They will open the areas up again!!

Sat, 2012-08-11 07:45

I believe they will open these areas up again in the future....

It will be about supply and demand...  Once the fish resources have been so badly depleted everywhere else (overseas)... Imagine what the price of fish will be worth!!  Then, the government will open these areas up again for "commercial" fishing... Imagine the amount of money they reap in..

First of all this is a

Sat, 2012-08-11 08:45

First of all this is a FEDERAL imposed Closure!

This is clearly a Greens driven issue!

The Gillard Government is just running with it to keep these Green pollies happy and on their site to stay in power!

So, to change this we need a change of Federal Government and sadly there is no other way of reversing this looming disaster.

The recreational boating and relevant industries will suffer substantialy as will the tackle shops.

Anybody that owns a fishing boat will see a devaluation of their assets because sadly Fishing is just about the only thing we can do on the ocean with only Rotnest as a  destination in the Metro area.

The effect of this legislation will be huge in certain area's.

One tacktic open is to delay this legislation (only the federal opposition is able to do this , but lobbying your local federal labour member is a good tactick as they are looking at a landslide defeat whenever the federal ellection will be voted on by the people of Australia, and wait till the green lunies are removed from holding the balance of power.

This could be achieved by large opposition voiced by us the people who do not want this to happen.

Protests is one avenue, writting en masse and on a very regular bassis to your local federal member and local state member is another.

The other option is to become an active member in a political party where you have access to the state and federal pollies and can discuss your grievances directly with them face to face, like I will be doing again this morning.

If you need or want more info on the above then send me a PM.

Didn't think there were very many elected federal labour pollies in this state? Stephen Smith is theonly one I can think of. You need to have a think about what you wrote in your first post Joe Amato. No one has atttacked you personally for not attending the event. But if that's your apathetic attitude then don't complain when you're battling for a fishing spot with 500 other boaties with the areas that are left.

Police will be in attendance so listen to their directions.

No offensive messages

No items which may be considered a danger to others.

No riding in boats

The media will be there so please be well behaved

We don’t want to be portrayed as rednecks by non fishers.

There will be more information and directions available before the day.

Scotto, you have certainly achieved your aim, well done unfortunately, I am in Kalbarri and its a bit too far to get down but along with allthe other guys on this website that are here or further North you have got our full support and I am sure we would be willing to put our names to a document that would indicate that support.

Keep up the good fight, and don't get to frustraded with those that critisise but don't actually do anything themselves.

Hope all goes well and you get enough support to make the voices heard.

Cheers
