Barramundi Cod

Went on a charter out of Cooktown on the weekend and caught this Barramundi Cod. Pretty rare on the reef these days, and have been put on the protected list so was released. Apparently one of the best eating fish on the reef.

Bigger than some of the specimens we have seen over here just lateley.
Did you catch anything else on the charter?

Yeah, managed a few trout,
Yeah, managed a few trout, Red Emperor, Reef Jacks and Red Bass but the fishing was pretty slow by Cooktown standards. Good to be out on the water though.

Certainly the biggest barramundi cod I've seen. What a magical looking fish.

they are an amazing fish... ive seen heaps whilst diving but only really small ones...seen one that was almost that big... speared it... awesome fish man... i dont think they get much bigger
