Well done on the Bonito's and Stripe Tuna. I was fishing the reefs along Burns Beach/Mindarie area, a bit afraid of the lightning due to having a graphite rod in my hand attach to it a Halco Twisty 30g. Water and Volts does not match lol.
All the crew were experienced and know their boats capabilities.....was wet but not too bad.......in any case it was a good handicap and the winners were well deserved.
Thats again to Tim and Andy (soft) Mac for organising a great get together...
and a big thanks to the sponsors, Oceanside and Compleat.....
That snapper pulled from the channel markers was a cracker.....bet not to many people have pulled em from there.....probably wouldnt even think about fishing it
fully agree there salmo with everything, though you may not have headed out as deep as some of the other boats not sure? but i know the waves started getting a little big, i do remember one skipper saying he was shitting himself a bit but it made for an interesting day
near the passage Mako...found a great spot.... heaps of fish on the sounder pulled a couple of rat pinks.....
But deckie had trouble with the anchor setting.....
very quick drift made it hard to hit the bottom quickly.....needed a heavier pick.
Then the lightning started .....We watch a big hit strike land near peron itself....think it was the passage marker on the hill......and Spess got a love knock with the static from his rod.....bit hairy so retreated back south to Peron......
yeah some good area down there, true that lightning wasnt too good and with the rods wouldnt have been good, i went out close to 30kms offshore and was pretty nasty out there for us
serious conditions... looks like my last day out.. been a month ,,but this week i,m home and gonna pick the day if we get 1...... dhues and pinks in abundance close.. we,ll see

I was watching that come in
I was watching that come in on the radar, nightshift friday night. Posted up on here that it was coming and when I saw how bad it looked.
The forcast did say turning NW to 18kts. Showers, increasing in the afternoon, thunderstorms with squalls to 40kts.
I phoned Dazza at 6:15 and he said he could see the lightning out to sea from Point Peron so I am surprised you guys even went out.
