Managed to hook this in 15 metres of water, i thought they were a deep sea species?
From what ive heard you can onyl catch them in roughly 40 metres? is that right?
Threw him back, was un aware of the size limit.

It certainly is a deep water fish
But even they want to go and check the shallower stuff out every now and them. Not unusual to get fish in odd situations, just not common. As Matt said I think 40m would be a start, but you get them way deep.

Wish we could take 8 like the
Wish we could take 8 like the south coast.
I can't see why they are in the high risk catergory.
The pros can take half a tonne in one session.

Dead right Brendan,
and considering the miles you have to put in to get consistent numbers they're hardly under the same pressure as Dhuies.
Why are they 'medium' risk on the South coast and 'high' risk on the West? Beyond me

nice little nanny,we have caught them randomly in the 40,s-50,s and when we do were are stoked as they are not in schools like thery're cousins the swallowtail, out deeper they school, and get big, we catch them out from 120m to 250m, and well worth the trip,
i know matty shits me as well , but they deffo are a high risk now as I know where they are,lol
bring on some good weather, plseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

HAHA,
that may be the case mate but there not under too much pressure if you can only get 6 or 8 or 10 at a time.
As Brendan said the pro's can take 100's at a time and no one blinks an eyelid.

Nice little red in so shallow. Interesting to get ones outside of where they're 'supposed' to be, but hard to complain.
