Yeah spot on 20kgs on a dodgy set of scales, I reckon it may have been even heavier. I caught it on a live tailor. Yeah we hooked a few rays (Four or five between two of us) and also a huge shovelnose shark to.
And to the young hoons, drunks driving past a bit earlier yelling, " Get a life you losers" (They were yelling this cause it was New Years) I wish you could see the results. Mannn hooning down the road hanging out the window is not living, This is living. Haha.

Kasey L, If you look closely behind me you can see a long pole gaff with a gaff at one end and a net at the other. We used the net but it was sticking out a bit and we had to be careful. My future son in-law Mitch did the honours of landing it for me, I just loosened the drag on the reel once it was sort of in the net and gave him a hand to haul it up. Once the Mulla was up the hooks came out real easily, we could've lost it just by bumping it the wrong way.
Yeah I realised I'd like to eat it, so no it wasn't released. :) It was too knackered anyway. I've already had two meals of it and it tasted quite nice. :)
You are a dead set legend Danny, yet another top fish from the shore. I am absolutely certain you have just inspired another generation of mulloway chasers. Not ethe time taken, 3-30am, that means dedication.
Congrats on a fantastic start to the new year. Hope you get a few more memorable captures in 2011.
Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez top fish mate hard yards-big fish. I just live shovelys you never get shakes or wing movement so it sits at the back of your mind with the other sharks and rays til it's at your feet death rolling!
Yeah LBG24kg it was right in close when it first hooked up, pretty much straight down. No need to throw too far. Luckily it headed out on its first run otherwise I'd have been in trouble. I let it go a fair way before I tried to turn it.

Good thing he can still catch tailor - good twitching technique he's got for the surface lures.

nothing
wrong with Mulloway. I landed a 24kg Mulla in Kalbarri from the beach and we ate it all! Minimal wasteage.
