My best Shovelnose Ray, didn't measure or weigh but guessing 10kg+. Released after this pic was taken. I've heard that they're actually pretty good to eat but I couldn't keep the big girl.
Apart from the shovelnose we got a few awesome estuary cod (well for creek standards anyway) and some nice yellowfin bream. Dinners gonna be good tonight ;)

Nice fish Jay
What sort of gear were you using and what were you after. Looks like a regular spot just out from Karratha if I am not mistaken. Where abouts was it?

sure was an awesome fight on the 30lb gear and I think I pretty much destroyed that reel... in the market for a new threadline now lol. Would like to see a pic of the 25 kilo+ one you caught if ya got one?
Andy Mac, was just west of Dampier, we launched from the Dampier ramp went around east intercourse island past all the ship loaders and into the eastuary system near the Dampier Salt Evaporation Ponds.
We had 30lb barra gear and we were targeting Mangrove Jacks, threadfin and estuary cod.
