Weekend landbased fishing
Submitted by rickets on Mon, 2007-09-24 11:11Weekend started off with a trip to the narrows with tyson to meet h0ju...
Not bad but packed on a sat night.. pulled in 1 breamski about 28-30cm on a baby vibe... then headed home as tyson was having a bad weekend... he had a huge run though and was busted off...
Got up early next morning to fish the high tide down the beach... got down there late, cos we slept in... me and tyson cracking open the first beer at quinns beach around 8.45am..
Nothing there, weed was horrid and the swell was up, so we packed in about 45 mins later and headed for a spot we have at mindarie marina....
Wind was picking up quickly, but managed to pull in 5 decent herring on some gulp shrimps.. so I was stoked.. my cat got a feed and tyson was frustrated again.. you get that...
A nice lunch and a bit of a rest saw h0ju at my door and us trekking up to moore river to fish the late arvo evening...
Went to silver creek first... couple of mis-hits using a zipbait rigge 46s.. then we moved to our other spot, which always fires in the day... was using the strike pro small fry II at that stage.. no hits however, h0ju started to get primed on bait... so switched over to the coral prawns (tweeds just get pwned in this river system) and got into some tiddlers.. max 23cm... or if you were using h0ju's mutant 45+cm bream measuring eyes.. these bream were like 10cm...
Sun set... and we moved to the river mouth for the night action off the flats as the fish migrate for the night...
We sat on this beaut little platform which is almost river height and down from the road... deck chairs set.. rods firing... h0ju had 2 out! lol...
We both got into a buckletload of fish... we werent counting but id dare say we landed about 30 between us... h0ju landing more cos he sucks shit and can only get small bitches.. lol
the fish for me that I landed there were all decent size.. which i was stoked about.. the first one was peeling line off awesomely and ended up being 30+ but we didnt have our measuring stick.. we were going off my hand which is 19cm palm to middle finger tip... and so, thats accurate enough for a casual lazy fish for the night...
So yeah, landed half a dozen or a bit more all averaging around 28-30cm and pulling like horses... was a great night....
We went through 2 1kg packs of coral prawns, rigging them near whole and after they were gone, we switched to the SP's only to be disappointed as it was pitch black lol
So we packed up about 10.30 and headed home.. however, h0ju the sly bitch went to the narrows on the way home and reports he landed 6 more on baby vibes (yeah picsorban!) but hes a bcf whore so dont listen to that.
:P

Deckie/fishing buddy for fishing trip to exmouth
Submitted by bouttime on Sat, 2007-09-22 20:34Looking for one person for a trip to Exmouth. leaving Perth on 9th November and returning about the 25th. Will be fishing the Billfish Bonanza. Must have some knowledge of game and sport fishing.
My boat is a 21ft plate alloy set up for game fishing. Must have own gear ie, line class from 8kg through to 24kg, lures and terminal tackle. I have enough to fish 5 but prefer own gear.
Cost will be finalised before we leave but if interested will have an idea.
I have a mate coming from Perth and Adam will be fishing the comp with us.
Will also target reds, ranking, GTs and also mackies and what not but mainly game fishing.
PM me if interested

FISHING LICENCE
Submitted by Italiano on Wed, 2007-09-19 18:45has anyone seen the front page of todays paper it's saying that the minister of fisheries wants to inturduce a fishing licence wanting all recreational anglers to pay $25 fee to fish and ban us from huge swaths of the state's coast and rivers as part of a overhaul of wa fishing laws. This fee would earn the government $20 million estimated a year which I have no problem about paying a licence fee as long as they can insure me that all, of the money i spend is going into breeding fish and going to fishing related things not in there pocket for another annual holiday at tax payers expense. But on banning us from fishing in some areas I think that is wrong why don't we have catch and release areas where anything caught in these areas size all not has to be put back as I think it is wrong to take our own coast line from us!!! I don't know what anyone else thinks about this but I don't think they will use the money for fish stocks and etc. and we will be no better off for paying a licence fee.

Burswood Bream - Lures?
Submitted by Dean on Tue, 2007-09-18 18:37So we will be heading up to burswood in a couple of weeks time again for a BBQ etc. Thinking about trying something new instead of bait.
Have been up there using Soft plastics but they didn't get a sniff. Used Berkly gulp sandworms on a jig head and on a hook (no touches). Tried some other SP in the shape of little fish which dont use jig heads and got zilch on those also. Other than getting no bites another problem is snags, and there is lots and rocks etc out there so you do lose quite a few jigheads etc.
So what are you thoughts on using small hardbodie lures like baby vibes? Or a small floating lure (suspending Jerkbait) or something similar?
Cheers
Dean

Got myself a new fish taming device!
Submitted by jimbo1 on Fri, 2007-09-14 15:06Well I decided to have a little upgrade! Earlier this year I upgraded from a TLD25 to a AVET MXL 6.3, however still I wasnt completely satisfied.
After getting out fishing with Chezza on the southern leg of the comp and seeing the ease of use with his gear, I decided to follow suit.
And bought myself a new ACCURATE Magnum Boss 870 2 speed. She's spooled with 50lb tuff line and waiting to go catch the big one.
Now if I could only talk the other half into letting me spend up on another rod

Hogh vis vs Low vis
Submitted by jay_burgess on Thu, 2007-09-13 19:21I notice alot of braid is available in high vis colours and low vis colours. My question is, are fish put off by the high vis line and is hookup rates higher with low vis??? I guess a good length of FC leader would solve any issues.

Who was it?
Submitted by SPESS on Wed, 2007-09-12 10:41Just a quick question: My misses has been driving the "SPESS RIG" latley which is a white triton GLXR duelcab with spess plates and a nice big fishwrecked sticker on the back. Anyway she has been telling me that she has been getting shit loads of people waving latley and 1 guy she's seen a couple of times in a white small ute (her discription) waving flat out. North of the river around the marangaroo, landsdale, greenwood, joondalup area. Sorry but she keeps telling me but i have no idea who it is and hopefully someone can tell me! hahahaha I know streetfighter sees it regulary but who is it??????? Cheers Chris.

Brisbane
Submitted by desmond on Tue, 2007-09-11 22:36Hi all,
Going to Brisbane on the East Coast at the end of this week and will be there for three months. Anyone have any idea what bites there? Am staying near Sunshine Coast Airport. What gear should I bring? I gotta travel light. Stuck on land unless anyone has any ideas on how to get me on a boat :)
I know there can't possibly be any forums for the East Coast that is anywhere as good as this one, but would be nice if someone could sneak me a link ;)

Med spin combo
Submitted by jay_burgess on Mon, 2007-09-10 18:01In desperate need of a spin combo to fish 20/30lb. Will be used mainly for livebaiting for barra and perhaps a bit of bluewater work in the off season. Thinking of a Sustain/Twinpower 4000. My question is will these handle 30lb or would they be better suited to 20lb? Which rod would suit nicely? Thinking of a Starlo Stix Snapper Spin (5-8kg).

CVZ Service Help
Submitted by jay_burgess on Mon, 2007-09-10 17:19g'day guys need help servicing my CVZ 203. Can't seem to work out how to remove the right hand side plate (probably really easy but it's got the better of me atm)... I've removed the left hand side plate, handle nut, handle, star drag & bearing washer as well as the cast control cap. I've loosened R/S screw B (see schematics)... but can't seem to work out where to go from here.
What can I use to clean parts (safely) and what parts need to be oiled/greased..??
