so unlucky...i was fishing for breams......fish for a whole 2 hours....witout a single nibble...after that...the worst is yet to come...i lost bout 5 rigs....after all thqat b4 going home....a big pack of mulloways came in....the grunters were flying everywhere....i [nearly cried]....haha...didnt...have the mulla rod at that time

After a good days work yesterday and finishing early, me and my mate decided to go down mindarie marina just to throw some metal slugs around in everyone elses berley trails (man the place was sooooooo packed on the low tide) yesterday.

Had 1 run but it busted off at the rocks which sucked and my mate didnt get much a chance out there cos he had to switch outfits to his kix and nitro...

I was using my new abu morrum/abu 6500 c3 combo and it was bombing out into the trails... was really liking it.....

Anyway, was jigging and retrieving in particularly quick one time and just as the 40 gram Knight was reaching the rock wall, I jigged it up to get it over the rocks and snags... and it flew back up, like ive done so many times before... to where I thought was behind me... however, there was no weight on the line....

As I wound in, i realized the treble was lodged in my forearm HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

A little bit disgusted, I turned to my mate and said, "check this out!" and his reply was, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

By this time we were both pissing ourselves laughing and he came over and found the hook embedded all the way to the bend in my arm, whereby he began to pull it out... then I remembered, I didnt crush the barb HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

So we're both sitting there pulling this hook, (dunno maybe the adrenaline had numbed it, cos it didnt hurt at all, didnt even know I had been hooked) and it wouldnt come out... the barb was sticking out but just couldnt free it... so Ty grabs the filleting knife and goes, "look away"

I said nah im doing it... so I grabbed the knife and just as I was about to cut... I thought, "Shit, I aint had a tetanus needle in like 17 years" so I we decided to go to the doctors...

the first doctor turned us down and told me to go to the hospital... the second decided to give it a crack... by whcih, I had already downed a nice big scull of Tooheys Extra Dry in the car, in fact, there would be no funnier site than a guy holding the weight of a 40g Knight with a beer in his hand, trying to drink it...

Anyway, they got it out, gave me a tetanus shot and now my bloody arm hurts a whole lot more than it did yesterday.

My wife recorded the "surgery" on her mobile phone and there is a photo... but you know me, I just cant be assed uploading stuff....

However, a person's imagination makes it look better... 1 of the 3 treble hoooks buried in my forearm up to and almost around the bend... LOL

Out fishing on sunday, there were loads of pilot whales out and about, we saw about 10, and they all came very close to the boat.

Been outta town for work over the past week so haven't had a chance to check the site for a while. It's amazing all the new content that gets posted in such a short amount of time!

Planning on heading out with a mate tomorrow from Dampier. Plan at this stage is the fish a group a big barges near the south side of Enderby island. The barges are a fish magnet for big GT's, Cobia, Queenies and other fish.

6.30 is the estimated time of departure, can't wait. Will post a report tomorrow.

A quick ?? for the lads from up north - apart from getting pretty hot what are the conditions around onslow generally like in early october. The old man wants to come across after he saw the photos of our trip to Thev in May and chase some GT's and sailies. I know that the wind is getting up a bit by then but is it terrible conditions or just a bit of chop with some calm bits in between the blows - any help would be good.

Looks like theres some good days coming up over the next couple of weeks has anyone got plans for heading out for a fish? Maybe some offshore tailor fishing or quality table fish are on the cards. Good to get out in winter, most of us wont let days like this keep us at home. :)

OK here is a question for the brim boys and girls , if flurocarbon is clear and fish are unable to see it why do you go down to say 4 pound fluro if the fish are finicky / shy surely if fish can't see it what does it matter if you use 4 , 6 ,8 10 or 20 lb leader .

I can't see what the diff 4 pound would have over say 10 pound if flurocarbon is what they all say it is ?????

just wondering if u guys think theres any taste difference between a big dhuie (15-20kg) and a small/medium dhuie (up to 8kg). ive only eaten 4-6kg dhuies and i love em.
also do they freeze well? only ever eaten them fresh!
