Joining a club
Submitted by Stewart on Fri, 2013-07-26 08:42 Right fellas we are only a couple of weeks back in Perth after been abroad for 15 years so I've well forgotten tactics and marks to fish around the Perth beach areas. Just wondering would I be better of joining a fishing club to get up to date or is their the usual marks that everybody fishes or if anyone is heading out after the storms and wouldn't mind a newbie taggin along that would be great

A Friday funny
Submitted by catchalittle on Thu, 2013-07-25 23:32A young man walks into a pharmacy, the pharmacist asks if he can help him, the young man replies that he's invited for dinner by the parents of his girlfriend for the first time that evening, and that after dinner, he hopes to "get lucky" with his girlfriend, so he needs a condom ...
The pharmacist gives him one condom and asks if that will be all.
T...he young man starts to think ... then he says: Well, you know, my girlfriends sister is also very cute, and I think she also likes me, who knows, maybe later in the evening, I might get lucky with her to, so I might need two condoms ...
The pharmacist takes another condom and places it on the counter and asks if that will be all.
The young man starts to think again ... well ... you know ... my girlfriends mother is also a nice looking lady, and I thinks she likes me to, who knows ... maybe I'll get lucky with her to late in the evening, so I might just need another condom ...
The pharmacist takes a third condom and places it on the counter, the young man pays for them and walks out ...
In the evening, the young man arrives at his girlfriends house a bit late, she opens the door and says that her family is already at the dinner table and they are waiting for him to start dinner. The young man walks into the dinner room, sits down at the table, immediately bows his head, puts his hands together near his forehead and starts praying, after a couple of minutes, he's still praying so his girlfriend whispers in his ear "what are you doing ? You never told me you were that religious ... ?
He mumbles to her: "and you never told me your father was a pharmacist ..."

Oceanside Tackle + Losing my first decent squid
Submitted by Chewy88 on Thu, 2013-07-25 21:31Just wanted to say a big thanks to blake and oceanside tackle. After getting some good gear and helpful tips headed down to south mole for a squid with my new breaden squid jig and after bout 10 minutes landed a good one (between 30-40cm length) and managed to lose it about 2 meters off. Kept trying and about 15 mins later caught a very small one but he went back. Even though i went home empty handed still a pretty good day

safety gone mad
Submitted by petermac on Thu, 2013-07-25 20:22megladon made a comment about the gun filleter in my last post not having a chain mesh mess glove on , It remindered me of when I transferred out to West Angeles and at a safety meeting we were told that we wernt to leave our vehicles idling with the aircon any more whilst working on a machine , I asked why not? and was told the vehicle could put its self in gear and crash into someone or something , I replied that in my 40 years of mining experience I had never heard of a vehicle putting its self in gear and running down someone , Quote from the superintendent "you don't see the point do you Peter" my response " no I don't" the problem these days is blokes are just so grateful to have a job in the mining industry they wont question stupid decions I was just lucky I had about 30 years up with RIO and wasn't scared to ask questions no wonder I snatched it from there after 22 months and a 30 odd year career with RIO ( and yes I could have moved up the RIO food chain plenty of times )

A Quick fish for Flathead on Holidays.
Submitted by opsrey on Thu, 2013-07-25 09:50Thought it was time I posted a few fish.
Visited family these school holidays just finished. One stop over was the Sunshine Coast of Queensland near Bribie Island (a lovely spot). Fished the end of run out tide Monday 15/7 from 0630hrs onward in the waterway that separates Bribie Is from mainland. Used soft plastic prawn look alike with a resin head. The water was only a few feet deep and even the smallest lead head was too heavy for the plastic, resin head was even a little on the heavy side. Only had a few hours to fish and came up trumps with these two lizards. The rod butt to fore grip upper is 42cm. Heaviest flattie went 1.26kg. Very happy to plan a fishing effort, and fish the plan to come up trumps. The spot was near a caravan park before Bribie's connecting bridge on the main road. Meet a few locals who were good company and very helpful. The tuck shop owner told me a 4kg flattie, which was around the 1.2 meter mark, had been landed two nights earlier on the high tide. The kids woke him to weigh and photograph the monster lizard. Brag board in the tuck shop is worth stopping for! In total I would have made 40 casts. Queensland, beautiful one day, perfect the next. Blooded the new rod in too :) , its staying in Qld for future visits.

Another Snapper Post (Sorry)
Submitted by buschy on Wed, 2013-07-24 20:49Hi folks,
Sorry to post a snapper related question...this has been done to death but I can't find the answer I'm looking for using my mate Google.
House will be a toddler-fest on Saturday morning as the boss-lady is having some friends over. Good excuse to go fishing...the weather looks rubbish so the wet weather gear and a rock wall will be my likely destination. Probably Two Rocks...Mindarie looks like it has been producing but my rule is if you are reading a good report on a spot, you've already missed the fun! (I'm SOR but don't really hit ASI up any more).
Have been reading about different baits for snapper - rock crabs, yellowtail, gars, mulie, herring, etc. Rather than use frozen bait I was thinking of grabbing a few fresh squid from Kailis Bros. Just wanted to know from experience how they stack up against other bait for snapper?
Cheers,
Buschy

Submitted by SquidHunter86 on Tue, 2013-07-23 09:43Hi fellow fishermen,
I started a group on facebook about a year ago and has been rapidly expanding over just the last few weeks. All thanks too Fishwrecked and Squidnet for there support.
The group is Squid Hunters Perth and its for ppl who like too catch squid using LAND BASED EGI techniques. We have discussions about what is the best tackle too use, best locations too check out around perth and the rest of the west coast. If ur interested come check us out https://www.facebook.com/groups/SquidHuntersPerth/ , the Calamari Classic is coming up this weekend and a few of our members are participating including myself. Me and my other admin have been thinking of holding our own little comps at our squidding sessions, meet & greets for members. And we also have future plans for stickers and maybe even tshirts for the club/group.
Link too our group is once again https://www.facebook.com/groups/SquidHuntersPerth/

Submitted by Blacked Out on Mon, 2013-07-22 21:34Hi Guys,
I am looking at mounting a Lowrance gps/depth sounder flush mount to the dash. Has anyone had problems with them getting stolen? or is it best to take the safe option and mount them on the bracket?
Secondly any opinions on a tournament 2000 blue water?

The best and worst of perth fishermen!
Submitted by quadfisher on Mon, 2013-07-22 18:47Had a great weekend with my daughter (13) before they go back to school.
We started off by going north of two rocks yesterday afternoon in that glorious Perth winter weather, for a tailor sess, and picked a couple of nice eating size fish (around 50 cm).
A nice family were near us on the beach and to see there young kids wooping and playing on the beach whilst mum and dad wet a line was good to see. I picked up a slightly bigger tailor one on dusk so I offered it to them, which him and his lovely wife accepted with much thanks. All in all a great day.
But... tonight same daughter and me went to the ammo jetty to replace the scalies we used yesterday only to be greeted by a charming family allowing there young kids to stomp and squash blowie after blowie, it was sickening, and my sensitive animal loving daughter looked pale and shocked. wtf is wrong with some people, we left, shaking my head at the dad whom just glared at me.
I love going to get some scalies at that jetty, but have seen the worst behaviours that reflect on the whole fishing community.

huet training
Submitted by petermac on Mon, 2013-07-22 18:01after my last post about pfd,s I started thinking about the first time I did the huet course . me being me thought because I had years of diving experience that the huet course would be just a junket away from work, how wrong I was I should have twigged when I noticed all the other blokes on the course had large dive bags with them and I just had a small bag with my bordies and a towel in it , they were all doing their huet for the umpteenth time and I was doing it for the first time, I learnt quickly I had made a blunder it was a bloody cold day and as we geared up for the course they all got there wettys on and swim goggles and nose pegs I spent the rest of the day freezing and choking (water up the snozzel) but I got through it while all those blokes had a good laugh at me I can look back now and laugh myself
