Shimano Baitrunner D or Thunnus Ci4??
Submitted by jus on Mon, 2010-08-16 16:42Just thinkin its time for a new reel and am having a bit of trouble choosing between these 2 quite beautiful reels :). The last image is me trying to see the difference between the two at work + having a little too much free time!
Here are the pro's and con's for the baitrunner D for me:
BAITRUNNER D
Pros: Available in Oz + has australian warranty
approx. $100 cheaper
cheaper spare spool
Cons: Only 3+1 bearings as opposed to 6+1
Not as sexy as the thunnus ci4
***They both have identical drag, line capacity and nearly identical weights.***
QUESTIONS:
Anyone have any experience on either of these?? Would having only 3 bearings affect the longevity of the reel?
Much appreciated!
Justin

sundays fish
Submitted by fisho-ron on Mon, 2010-08-16 14:49well to do a first, i decided it was only going to be two of us out today(normaly three) definatly better with two.
the plan looked good, weather looked good and we were off.
left woodys at 6.15am and headed straight out to 60mtr, first problem my navman gps would not aqq sats, oh well i have the hds10 now, so split the screen and all good, power on.
the water was supposed to be nice and flat, it was as rough as guts out there when we got pass the island, then transfering of gps spots to the 10 was a pain in the but.
for the first cople of hours, nothing,nil,f/all, not even a wrasse, and all i could think of was a disscussion with steve (moon and tides were wrong) shit fishing.
but then someboydy must of felt sorry for us because every thing started to work, gps fired up, wind was dropping and my mate had just pulled up our first fish, under size snapper, back he went.
then ever thing started goming over the side, large b/b, a couple of huge rock cod, another under snapper, i got a jew that was mms under(that is four under size jews in two outings now, the big one is coming) so back he went as well, we were catching fish but as usal we wanted bigger.
then it got better again, my mate line went of in a hurry and 5 min later a 92cm queeny on the floor of the boat, then i pull in a 45cm red snapper, another under size pinky.
then my line screams, iam getting excited and theres some yahoos going on until the 1mtr long sambo comes over the side and the yahoos turn to yah only.
all the fish come from 1 spot after we had tried many spots for the day, it was a spot i dint think much of, fairly flat, with only 1 sign of fish on the sounder.
just goes to show you just never know.
except for the early part of the day, it has been our best day ou for a while.
i hope my dogs are happy with there sambo tonight.
cheers ron

Fishing Today
Submitted by piston broke on Sun, 2010-08-15 22:32Sorry about the small images. We decided to keep a Sambo today and luckily it cooked up a treat (nice and firm). The drift was weird, with an Easterly wind and the drift was Northerly which resulted in heaps of crossed lines. Cheers Pete

Big tackle shop or little tackle shop ??? WHERE DO YOU SHOP ?
Submitted by DhuBoi on Sun, 2010-08-15 22:31Hi just curious to where you guys shop either at a big tackle store or a little tackle store. I gotta say i shop at the smaller ones. People tend to think bigger store / chain stores smaller price . I know this is wrong for a fact recently i have purchased a SHimano torium 30 , which i scored from a small tackle store at 260 dollars , i went to ranger camping and outdoors only to find that the shimano torium 20 which was all they had was set at a price of 430 BUCKS , ripp , just goes to show bigger stores doesnt mean smaller prices .
cheers

Busso Fishing Spots
Submitted by shaw_catch on Sun, 2010-08-15 21:14Hey Guys,
Going to Busso this week with the boss lady. Never fished there before, i'm told the jetty is good, but if you get a good fish, goodluck if you don't have a cliff gaff?
Are there any other good spots, and are there any salmon down there at the moment?
Any tips??
Cheers

Weekend Fishing
Submitted by DieHard on Sun, 2010-08-15 20:02Hey all,
just wanting to know how every one went this weekend be it landbased or boat.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I went to hillarys yesterday at 12 and not a touch. comes 4 O' clock and landed 9 Zebra fish a 3 Buff bream all over 1kg. used a medium sized buff bream with its head cut off and tail cut off aswell as being stabbed several times to get some blood going. not a touch until 6 O' Clock when i had a 15 second run with some thing at around 20kg either ray but it has quite strong headshakes. unfortunately it spat the bait.
Cheers,
Eric

campfires on the beach?
Submitted by cuthbad on Fri, 2010-08-13 00:15was thinking how well a camp fire would go with an overnight fishing trip in winter. Is this allowed anywhere and if so how far out of perth would it have to be? I plan on getting an old webber bbq putting it on the sand and having the fire in this so im able to take all the mess away with me. Any chance of getting away with that?
cheers
