Bring on your comments .I don't care what most poeple think .I a'm coming out of the closet i like fishing ,i like getting other people good fish ,we have got so many people PB and firsts i have lost count .I enjoy releasing fish as much as keeping them .Since this shot was taken we have only kept 2 kgs and a snapper .There im out and im proud to say I EAT FISH.

The top fish was 20 kg and go down to about 10 kg .We had 4 on board plus me ,i only had one drop all day .We had enough by 830 am and went after  snapper in shallower water We let 7 others go and 2 bauldies.

ive never really done much squidding and wudnt mind giving it a go

but whats the best way to retrieve a squid jig?? like a slow retrieve and a twitch or what?

and how do those squid poles compare to the jigs in effectiveness?

and does anyone have any idea what the squidding is like at the new boardwalk at hilarys? wudnt mind giving it a go, or if anyone knows of some other spots for squid in hilarys any tips would be greatly appreciated.

"Echo Sounder Workshop" is finally here. John Adams (good mate) has been around boats & fishing all his life and is a Master class 4 skipper, Master Class 4 trainer and a registered RST trainer also.

He's been on the water doing various jobs like North sea commercially/rock lobster/trawling prawns/offshore oil & gas/marine officer with Marine & Harbours (DPI) and has spent more than 40 years on the water all around the world. Johns been speaking to me for sometime now about getting a "Echo Sounder Workshop" up and running. I've been asked to do such myself and dont have the time to but after along time in the making John has done it.

G'day guys

Went on a solo recon mission on Wednesday. Awesome day out. Heap of undersize Dhuies, dropped a pinky which would have gone 8kg +, and then three triple hook ups on yellowfins. At first I thought I'd hooked a cray pot with all three rods screaming at the same time. After the first Triple hookup I thought that wouldn't happen again. After the second I thought that couldn't happen again. After the third I put the rods away. All in less than hour. Found some awesome ground. Bought a nice pinky and a couple of tuna home for a feed. Twas a great day.

Gday lads, at the end of the year i am heading over to tasmania for a few weeks and a few of my grandfathers mates have offered to take me fly fishing in the highlands of tassie.. as i come from the pilbara all the fly fishing gear i have is all rather heavy,

 just wanted to know if anyways was thinking about selling any light fly fishing rods and reels? chasing a small one about a 5-6 weight i think... i wouldnt know cos i have never caught one of these fish befor..

if any of you guys have any tips on targeting these little buggers and wanna share it with me it would be much appreciated

Background:- Research in the United States has shown that fly fishing for women recovering from breast cancer provides an opportunity for women who have been affected by the disease to gather in a beautiful, natural and relaxing environment and learn a fun new skill. These special fly-fishing clinics will offer women an opportunity to meet new friends and create a support network, but most importantly to have fun. Fly fishing is a sport where women can talk whilst fishing, and offer much needed support for each other.



Fly-fishing is an excellent form of recovery exercise for breast cancer surgery. We wish to assist those women who have undergone surgery or treatment to a speedy recovery and to introduce new participants to fly fishing. It is less physically demanding than dragon boat racing where breast cancer survivors have also made a significant impact.



Fly fishing techniques provide gentle exercise for joint and soft tissue mobility. Studies have shown that the casting motion is similar to the exercises prescribed by surgeons for women who have had surgery or radiation. It is a very gentle motion which promotes soft tissue stretching.



Learning a new life skill at such a traumatic time could also be beneficial in providing a fun positive activity at a very stressful time in your life. The outdoors soothes the soul and can provide women with an improved outlook on life. Being inspired by the recovery process in other women and seeing that other women are surviving breast cancer can be a powerful healing tool. It might even be something your partner or family could take up as well!



A series of coordinated clinics is seen as an ideal way to provide an opportunity for women to try fly fishing and to establish a network of friends who have been through similar experiences. The participants can voluntarily be included in a contact list of fellow participants if they so desire for future fishing buddies.

Just for information. I bought a ATC rod about 4 months ago and they look flash, and have a semi bling price. The first rod was rated 30-40lb (made in the US by Bob Loomis, brother of G Loomis) and departed the scene breaking under very little strain surprisingly at the joint. Was replaced with a new rod, and yesterday hooked on to a reel screamer in the Cossack creek that almost spooled the saragosa loaded with 15kg braid. 10min into the fight this rod snapped at the butt surprisingly again. Drag was not tight at all. Fighting whatever it was with a short little rod with one guide was not fun and the inevitable happened. I just dont think this is a good blank and wonder if anyone else has had any similar experiences, or any good news for this rod.

With reports continuing to come in that the tailor were still on the bite at Pinnaroo, a few northern-based Fishwrecked members decided to head down there last night.
Steve (Sherbs), Mat (Mako Magic), Brendan (Brenz), Tackleshack Doug and his son and a friend, and myself, arrived about two hours before dark to find a light south wester blowing and a rising tide. Perfect conditions for tailor.
The few hours before dark were fairly quiet with Brendan landing a small flathead, Sherbs a ball on a rope and Matt a herring. Things started to improve just before the sun disappeared and the tailor started to move in. Unfortunately they were only appearing for very short periods, before going off the bite quite a long time.
Everyone managed to catch at least one fish, with Doug staring with three legal sized tailor.
With the bite being a bit slow, most of the crew gradually headed off, but Doug and I made the fatal mistakeof deciding “to give it another half hour”. That looked a good decisionb when Doug caught his best tailor, but then the thunder storm hit and we had to rapidly pack up with lighting crashing all around us and the rain bucketing down.
All in all it was a good night. The fish weren’t as hungry ad we would have liked, but it is always great to get out and throw a line with some good people.

me and a mate are goin for a mulla bash round mosman bay in a tinnie in the next couple of days hopfully. can anyone help the whereabouts of the wreck thats there. i have a sounder which will help but its quite a big area to go looking. also as the high tide isnt until midnight we will be looking for a carpark at a boat ramp that is relatively safe as we will be in the water for quite a while if anyone can recommend a good ramp and carpark that would be great so im not stressing that someone decides i dont need my windows anymore while im in the water.

also has anybody else had any luck in the swan chasing mullaway.
