Doesn't look like a special weekend on the water.. I think we are planning to go out sunday morning and look for some abalone and go for a few tailor at Mewstones..  Maybe a KG bash on the edge of the 5 fathom if the easterly permits..

If you manage to get out this weekend, best of luck.. Let us know how you go!

Billfish Bonanza - Exmouth

Well, the billfish bonanza was last weekend and the boys did a good job in coming 4th out of 14, considering they had the smallest boat in the fleet and had to deal with 30 knot onshores on Sunday.. Pretty good effort really.. They managed to tag 4 sailfish over the weekend and also landed a nice sized cobia from under a manta..  There were heaps of other fish about as well, but sailfish were the main target..

Winner was Matt Gates from Bluewater.  With 10 minutes left in the comp they hooked up onto a saily double header and won the comp just.. the boys gave them the winning live bait as a swap for a couple of bundy's earlier on, bad call fellas..  Adzy also won a angle grinder for tagging the first sail for the weekend..

Sounds like it was a pretty good weekend to be in Exmouth, bring on Gamex 06!

Your best capture

Just wondering what your best catch has been or your most memorable moment whilst fishing?

Weekend fishing - Nov 12-13th

Doesn't look like the weather gods are playing too nice this weekend:

Bom Says:
Saturday:  E/SE winds 10/15 knots becoming S/SW 20/25 knots in the afternoon. Seas below 1.0m rising to 2.0m. Swell to 1.5m.
Sunday:  S/SE winds 15/20 knots tending S/SW 20/30 knots in the afternoon.

Ocean Outlook doesn't say much better:

FWA weekend shows

Don't know about you, but i'm starting to warm to the ol FWA show again..

The two shows over the weekend were pretty good, and that pinnacle they were fishing down south, magic!!!

Thought both episodes were pretty good.. Along with ET on Saturday as well, even though it was a bit slow, I still rate ET as a host and think the shows worth watching.. Good to see some fishing on tv atleast..

Looks like next weeks FWA is going to be the one to watch, or so they say.. Look foward to that one..!

Weekend Fishing? Where/when/how !

This weekend im hoping to either hit the water saturday arvo in the river for some chopper tailor and bream and/or go out sunday morning for an inshore fish for KG's and skippy. Ive given up targeting big fish for the time being, too hard haha, i figure smaller specimens will be easier to catch .... i hope!

So what about you?

Star Drag v Lever Drag - Preference

Just a quick question.. Whats your preference in terms of star drag vs lever drag?  Any particular reason for your choice?

Weekend Fishing 16-10-05

So how'd everyone go this weekend?

We hit nedlands in search of flatties, but wasnt even a nibble, couldnt even entice a blowy! Wind was howling there so we decided to go somewhere less windy. Got a big flounder and a nice blackie. Unfortunatly i forgot my bucket otherwise i could be eating some delicious flounder fillets as we speak! No flatties, and got a few other fish too, average afternoon, average weather but was great to get out fishing anyway!

Weekend Fishing 15-16th October

Well, a biggg weekend is on the cards.. Big b'day celebrations for myself tonight which had to be put foward a day as Sunday is the chosen day for fishing..  The weather isn't looking too crash hot...

Saturday:  E/NE winds 10/15 knots, tending S/SW 15/20 knots in the afternoon. Seas to 1.5m in the afternoon. Swell to 1.5m.

Sunday:  S/SW winds 15/20 knots reaching 20/25 knots in the afternoon.

So we will either have to brave it at one of the close in spots, anchor and berley up or go the river and go for a casual mission.. Will have to see how bad it really is..

For everyone else out there, best of luck with the fishing over the weekend, hope you all manage to get into some..
Let us know if you do,
Cheers Adam

Photo of the Month Competition

Im going to start up the next photo of the month competition around the middle of next week.. It doesn't necessarily have to be the best fish, but that is always a part of it.. A good photo or story or line class capture will do equally as well..

Please get your entries in to me soon,

Winner will get a FISHOUTOFWATER DVD, which is a damn good watch! and even better if its freeee.. :)

Cheers,
Adam

Yo Zuri lures

Gday,

thought i'd share with you's my thoughts on a couple of yo zuri lures, those thoughts are...they rock!

I used these 2 lures to the max when up north after a friend lent me them, the small GT's love the small poppers , and spanglies/gt's cant resist these crystal vibes. Whilst they are $$ to buy, they are good quality and swim superbly. I definatly recommend these to anyone looking for new lures to give a crack, down here they would go off for tailor and i think the 3d pops could work well for flattys too in summer.

permision from minister of war and finance for new toy

Hi Fellas
the misses has cut her own throat and decided that we dont have to go overseas on holidays and I can buy a new boat at xmas.
Im looking for a few ideas what would be suitable in the Albany area within a 15k budget. I have had a few boats before but only in the pilbara where the are mainly mangroves creeks ,small swells and heaps of islands to hide behind.I hoping for something between 4m to 4.7m but have no idea what to expect fishing wise down south.

cheers

solly

Picture of the Month Competition

Next months competition will not be based purely on the fish photo.  If you could provide some story, what line class or something which will spice up the photo, or even a sequence of images, it will stand a much better chance of winning and provide a lot more intrigue to the people looking on.

The winner of next months competition will take home a 'FishoutofWater' dvd, so start getting your submissions ready.

Next months competition will start on the 15th October and run till the 15th November.  So start submitting your photos and stories to go with it and it will make next months comp.  There will be only one entry per member, you will not be able to change your entry once it goes up.. But if you get any better photos or fish, it can go in next months comp.

mixed bag!!!!

just thought i throw a photo in from mine and mitchs last trip ,we needed a couple more muddies to to do the chilli mudcrab and solly to make it ,but we could only drag ourselves away from the islands for about half a day. one of those jacks was pulled from the creek in about 1m of water and the other from the reef .

but yet you can't tell the difference by looks or taste.

cant tell ya bay

Weekend Fishing - 10-11th Sept

Anybody going fishing this weekend?

Mixed reports from the weather bureau.. Tomorrow has relatively strong easterlies early and dying off in the afternoon with a decent 3mtr swell running..

Sunday - Ocean Outlook says 4-8 knt north easterlies picking up in the afternoon, and bom says strong 16-20 or along those lines.. Not really sure which one to believe..

Thinking might go for a bash down to the 3 mile tomorrow morning to look for some pinks or king george.. Depending on the weather of course, but might be worth a shot..  Let us know if your going out or have any luck over the weekend..

Have a good one, regardless!
Cheers Adam

Hotbite September Issue

My first article for Hotbite was published this month about our recent trip to Exmouth.  Theres not a hell of a lot of fishing covered in the piece, but it does give some basic tips and guides as to how to prepare and some of the things you should be thinking about for the trip.  I'm sure most of you already know about it, but for those that don't, its a good read and has a couple of photos from the trip to get you excited about heading there.  I will post a more detailed story and article here shortly once I finish the final fishing components.  Any feedback is welcomed.

Old School Reels

Found these old school reels from my dad's pro fishing days in Exmouth.. Need some love and I plan to get them back in action, just so i don't have to buy a big game reel for out at the fads this season, unless these ones have packed it in. Hope not. The everol needs to be sent off to Sydney for a new plastic drag cover and some new drag washers.

Snapper Ban

Hi guys

I've had a few people ask me now if I had any charts or map or images on the latest snapper band.
I got this today, so I hope it clears things up for people.
