rockingham sea rescue are not activly monitering 27mghz radios now. they are running them in the back ground but are concentrating on the vhf channel, at least that was what i was told whilst trying to log on by the RSR after finally ringing them on the phone. 27MGHZ DON'T GO IN THE BIN UNTIL THE 1 OF SEPT 2028 so they should be given the same coverage as vhf's. There are still people using the 27 meg radios and as they are still ok to use it would be pretty sad for them if someone died due to a lack of coverage. Duty of care they are a rescue orginization so all possible tools should be employed instead of just some.

 i finally made the big move up to carnarvon and have opened the account with some good fish few less mackeral this summer then i thaught but man has it been windy.

I have been doing alot of reading and only being fed (what i feel) is sales pitches on what is the best boat for fishing/ family from the supplier/ boat yard websites etc.

in your opinion, if i were looking to spend around the $150k mark what would be a; no brainer - a no go - or an option to look at for a new or fairly new second hand boat?

ideally a hard top would be nice, soft top at minimum. i like the look of the yellow fin (not sure on ride quality) and Mclay boats...

We all know that pinkies tend to be out deep in summer months then come winter storms they move inshore. Just wondering if dhueys/ baldies are known to have a seasonal migration pattern? Ive got a week long boys trip mid April off jurien bay coming up. Just wondering whether wei should hit up spots in the 80 odd metre depths or  30 - 50m depths to target the larger dhueys off Jurien.  Gday all,just seeking info on external gps antennas.
Using a hds 12 just for a plotter that is flush mounted in a plate cuddy cab with soft top & clears.it's a new unit and doesn't drop out with sats but the waypoint I'm trying to line up for a fish seems to bounce around alot as soon as its zoomed in to about 20m or less.Is this just processing a bit slow because of its mounting and would an external antenna help this and become more accurate?

 G'day all. My 27mhz has taken to beeping and has a flashing screen. In addition, when ptt is pressed the screen goes completely blank, but recovers if I hold it down. Plenty of clean power to the unit, and it's not that old. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance, John.

 Just wondering if anybody has had success trying for marlin out from Mindarie or Two rocks say out past the FADS. Just trying to avoid the crowds going out of Hiullarys when weather good. Im guessing guys will reply that i gotta hit up the rotto trench for best chance at a marlin though  cheers

A couple of us have bought quad bikes and are about to venture in to this murky world.

 Not sure if anyone here fished the cup last weekend, but the stats were incredible. 66 marlin raised, 39 hooked and 13 tagged. Those are crazy metro numbers. There have been whole seasons where a fraction of those numbers are reported. Must be the warm water this year.

Heading down to Esperance for 5 nights. Never beach fished down that way. Anyone have any pointers. Just chasing some whiting or squid for a fresh feed. Salmon if they are around.

Has anyone dabbled or know of others who may have dabbled catching deep water prawns in WA?
After failed attempts at catching painted crays in pots in Vanuatu my Kiwi / Vanuatu mate converted the pots to deep water prawn pots with some success. Depths of 400m - 450m proved more successful than sub 350m. After some early hiccups catches were around 2.5 - 3kg of prawns per pot. The pic below is one very pleased neighbour.

Hi Guys, I have asked this question previously but thought I would try again, next week I will be passing through Carnarvon and staying a couple of nights, I was wondering if anyone was able to tell me a spot that is safe for kids to try to catch some talapia, growing up in the Pilbara my kids know the fish we get up home but I want to educate / show them about invasive species and figured talapia should be an easy one to show them, last time I tried was at Chinamen pool but the grass was really overgrown so I am a bit concerned taking the kids there due to snakes, any help would be greatly appreciated
