14ft overhead rod for torium 30

 Hi guys

Im looking at getting myself a 14ft overhead rod or a surf rod 8 to 15 oz for my shimano torium 30 series.

Any suggestion and where is the best place to buy from.

Happy fishing

The saffas have a pretty big range of these sorts of rods, ther are a few Assasins that will fit that bill.  Otherwise some rod builders may have a blue marlin or poseiden blank that could also suit.

off the shelf rods at that weight the only one I can think of would be the saltiga ballistic, but its max is 10oz.

sadly not many tackleshops in oz specialize in these sorts of rods at the mo.

I have an assasin you could cast a concrete slab with if you start thinking at importing your welcome to take a look at it

Difficult to find a decent

Difficult to find a decent surf rod mate ..... I have a Poseidon and an Assassin rod. The former is kept as a spare. Both rods are hard to find to find. If money is not an issue....you can still get an assassin rod custom built in Perth.

I just bought in 2 from South Africa , with shipping they are about $650 each. I have used assassin rods for the last 10 years and never had one let me down , if you can afford one it will last you a life time.

Basil Manning in Durban sell the Assassin Rods. The "Assassin" rods sold here in Perth are locally made and not the same.

Excalibur Rods.

 Hey Mate,

15oz is certainly a large amount of weight to be casting, a solid choice of reel though.

Have you checked out Excalibur Tackle Australia?

There is an agent in Sydney who handles imports from Excalibur tackle in Namibia.

They offer a large range of 14ft surf rods and are custom built to suit whatever kind of fishing you like.

I personally use them and although new in Australia, are taking off in popularity in Sydney.

Send an email to for enquiries, replies are usually very fast and informative.

They will definitely be able to sort oyu out with what you want!

Cheers,

Sarge'

I should also make mention, Excalibur Surf rods are built on Blue Marlin Blanks,

They have an exclusive contract on the particular blanks that are used to built the Double century and Stiletto rods, the Cape Shark special is likely something you want to check out.

Hope thats helpfull!

Sarge.

I have 2 great rods that

I have 2 great rods that sound exactly what you're after - unfortunately both bought in SA.

Poseidon 5 by kingfisher - Light, Med, heavy tips, cast up to about 6oz sinker. had it about 8 years my favourite rod.

Just recently got a custom HMG job done by Gremlins in Margate, KZN. Medium Shark extreme which a match with a Tori 30, could lift a car with it. Cost about R5000 with a spare tip. First throw got onto a 112kg raggie, Fish Point - EC. Contact Brad at hopefully they can sort you out.

good luck

another option is the purglas rods.

In that casting class you are looking at the 400/7 or extreme.

you can get them custom made in Perth.

weight wise a HMG would be a better bet, but don't bumb it or high stick it.
