I have to wonder why you don't just bolt a transom mount one on the back

mine reads deeper then I need to fish very clearly and is only a 1kw

wasnt certain that thru hull types like aluminium to shoot thru

Which transducer?

Which 1.5kw transducer are you referring to? I have seen the Airmar M422 which is a 1.5kw in hull but that wouldn't suit an aluminium boat.

@black glen, hey mate cheers for the reply. I currently  have  it mounted on the transom. It seems to make my honda bf90 cavitate badly i have tryed it in several different  places and still the same. It rooster tails like a barstard....

@z00m, i have a 1.5kw airmar but am more than willing to buy a purpose built transducer.

I also am keen on the best possible reading and im told thru hull is the best option?

Thanks i  a bit of a noob with transducer  mounting...

You can fit pretty much whatever 200 or 50 khz transducer you want.
600w or 1kw will both fit directly with a 10 pin plug. You can fit commercial transducers using a matching box.
You really need to decide what type you want from it eg narrow or wide beam, deep water or shallow performance, game or bottom fishing as these can all affect your choice of transducer.
