1kw transducers

Well after having my standard 600wt transducer ripped off the back of the boat on sunday out from ocean reef i went into freo to the jrc dealer to go get a new transducer for my  FF50.
what i was wondering wass how many other people have upgraded to a 1kw transducer and have found it to be well worth the money or regret it and thought they should have just gone the standard one again considering the 1kw one cost me $1100?
thanks

600W?

I've had a JRCFF50 before and a great unit but i thought they were 600 watts RMS.....????? if that's the case then i'd assume putting a 1kw on wouldn't help alot imo Matthew!

If a unit pushes out 600W the 1kw transducer will push out 600W only and receive 600W only. The 1 KW transducer however has 2 elements where the standard transducer has 1 element. The outcome is a slight increase in receiving 200khz info but as Matthew was eluding to ie $1100 that's alot for a bit IMO

I went through this with Furuno last year and they agreed as i few of my customers were considering it!

I just spoke to the JRC dealer today as i just placed an order for the new model JRC that replces the old FF50. The new unit is gonna be 1kw from what he says and the WA JRC man said he doesn't recommend the 1kw for the old 600rms units as the performance wont change much at all!

I just re read Mako's thread and i thought he was wanting to know ppl's thoughts on a 1KW but then realised he's already got!

JRC wholesaler tells me it'll make very little difference and someone saying otherwise ie another JRC person?

I spoke to one of the more knowledgable people today at Taylor marine (my Furuno supplier) and my go to man said it'll make only a small amount of difference/bugger all in his opinion........on the 600w Furuno units that is. The marketting stuff seems to push a "dramatic" change but Furuno go to people say other wise?

I'm sure you'll be happy with it Mako!
