585 Delaminating
Submitted by Willlo on Tue, 2015-03-31 09:37
Hey Fella's wonder if anybody else is having this problem. The last time i went for a fish i noticed a silver bubble forming in the top right hand corner of the screen, the next time i went out i noticed the same forming in the top left hand corner and the right hand side had started to go down the side of the screen. My question is has this happened to anyone else? how bad did it get? Can it be fixed?

As long as it keeps working
As long as it keeps working and stays to the outside edge of the screen i will persist with it.If it starts down the middle might have to give Furuno a ring, just out of interest how old r the sounders you guys have?

Not sure about delamination
Not sure about delamination but I know the 585's were fairly renowned for moisture behind the screen. Anyone tried putting a bag of 2 of moisture absorbing crystals inside the unit? I know it's worked for me in years gone by with Navman units that had similar problems.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

My 587 had a screen lamination problem straight out of the box from new.
Was repaired by Taylor Marine under warranty.
So it is repairable, give Taylor Marine a call for a quote.

Yeah Brucesta,thats how i
Yeah Brucesta, thats how i fee ldont want to be without it.I have done a little research and it seems the 585s that are around 3 - 5 years old have had this problem ,mine is around 4 years old as well Pato and yes it can be fixed.Dont know how much or how long it will take so i will persist with it like it is.Pisses me off though, you pay $2000 grand plus for something you would expect it to last a little bit longer. Its the best sounder i have had, user friendly etc etc .

Yeah agree with your
Yeah agree with your comments Willo, Being Furuno you would think you'd get ten years before something like this happens. Luckily mine hasn't had this problem yet and as you say they are a great unit.
