6mtr new boat quotes

G'day again guys , just wanted some thoughts on prices for new boats. Got a quote for a 6.1 westy open hard top (150 honda) was right up there , around 87gs. Got one for the 610 and 670HT barcrusher (140 suz/175 suz ) and the westy was very close to what I was quoted for the 670HT which surprised me. Also one for a Mclay 610 HT was 57 with no motor. Any thoughts about which one you would get , friggin lot of money!!!!! Haha

Mate I reckon some of the prices on plate boats are a rip off.

I am seriously thinking of building plate boats myself, from what I can see

you can buy a kit for around 12-14k, motor 16-20k, paint 4-5k windows and fitout

another 4 -6k trailer 4-5k. Worst case scenario would be around 50k total which would allow

37k for consumables and fabrication, I can do a lot of fabrication and welding for that amount of money.

Figures are a guess but I reckon they would be close to the mark.

Yeah I reckon it would take

Yeah I reckon it would take 2 good tradies  about 2.5 weeks to fabricate, That would be around 11k wages at Perth rates and maybe 1k for consumables that would leave around 25k profit, less rent for factory, pretty good money I reckon.

Every boat builder I know is either broke or on their way to being broke. Pretty tough gig.

Certainly can save some bucks

Certainly can save some bucks buildin one yourself. I gave a mate a hand with his and he built a 24' center Console from scratch, came as a pallet of plasma cut ali for like 11k I think. Man hours is where the dollars goes. Cost of things in OZ is on the rise so naturally its guna cost more for the same boat built 5 years ago local made. Can speak highly of the quality of BC, really happy with mine

I reckon boating is cheaper than golf

Thu, 2014-03-13 07:24

And a damned sight less frustration (unless you are trying to launch at Two Rocks) and you get fillets as a bonus

Nah............give me boat fishing every time and I have never found annual maintenance costs that prohibitive

Yer I would think most would only need one survice a year , I forget not everyone does 3-400 hours per year. As for the ramp I have seen the new ramp taking shape .You thought the old ramp was bad ,mmmmmmmmmm frustration plus... no longer get two boats on or off .looks like a one lane ramp to me,will be some nice long lines and some angry fishers.

Look at Americain import.

Seems like it's easy to land a 7m fiberglass boat package for $55k , they are secondhand but seem to be very low hours.

 Certainly something to do

Certainly something to do with supply and demand. A lot of cashed up people around . Got an email from a barcrusher dealer and their workshop is flat out with orders after the Hillary's boat show
