7.5m HT under construction- PICS UPDATED

After months of looking around for a new boat I have finally settled on a custom 7.5m hardtop from oceanic fabrication.

After 3 visits to thier workshop in Henderson to look at thier workman ship, it was clear that no shortcuts Has been taken and thier build quality is second to none.

Looked high and low at different builders/brands ally and fibreglass. Decided on the ally because of annual trips north and the ability to beach it without worrying that the hull will get damaged.

Some of the feature of this boat will be- hull is a billy plug design with 4mm sides and 6mm bottom,  280ltr fuel tank, 100ltr water, 2x1400mm kill tank, live bait tank, 40ltr slide out engel, 250hp Suzuki

I have attached a few more photos, currently getting the motor fitted down at ward boats, couple more weeks and it will be ready for the water.

Looks Sweet

Wed, 2013-10-02 10:06

A good mate has just had one made ..looks very similar .Has a 225 4 banger on the back .Awesome boat built like a tank 6mm etc,but can say it is a bit front heavey sitting a bit low in the nose at rest and would be very noticable in a decent trailing sea..cant think of the brand but was a pre lazer cut jobby.would of been ideal if the hard top cab had been bought about a foot back centering the weight a bit better..As the cab frame has some bulk to it.if he had of fitted an electric winch etc the weight on the nose would be that little more too

also the postioning of the bungs seemed weird sitting about 50mm up from the bottom of the hull.was fixed .we just added another one in, about 5mm from the bottom...deck wash pick up was another sitting half way between motor and the gunnel causing bubble drag right next to where you would mount a transduser.

its the 1% that make a great rig a GREAT RIG and it seems your not skinting on the bells a whistles Noooice!!!

 Hey Mitch

thanks for your feed back, I'll have a word with Bruce regarding the boat been front heavy, not sure if your mate has the same boat or not but by the looks of the other 7.5m boats he has built the cab doesn't look like it's to far forward. Jump onto his website and have a look.

Yeah that's a bit odd bung hole 50mm up from the hull

couldnt agree more with you, 1%  makes a great rig a great rig

 Vinnie Yeah it's only 280ltr

Fri, 2013-10-04 21:17

Vinnie Yeah it's only 280ltr could do with an extra 100ltrs but it will be sufficient for what I mainly use it for, if I'm going to do more miles, I'll just put couple of Jerry's in the  underfloor storage.

Or I could turn my 100ltr fresh water into a fuel tank instead

Yeh when I build I will be looking for around 500l. But more of a far north trips like the buccaneer.  I wonder if they could do inserts for the kill tanks? Ive got kill tanks and dont use them at the moment!

I'm sure they could do In fill for kill tanks, I've got 2 large kill tanks might get a poly fuel tank fabricated just for long distance got quoted around the 400.00 mark. The only thing is I'll have to manually pump it into the main fuel tank. To much stuffing around trying to connect both together.

Update

Wed, 2014-03-12 10:42

Hi justin, I am new on here but just found your pics, the rig came up a treat! I have one I have almost finished and looks almost identical. How is it performing? I bought mine from a guy in wa who never started the fit out, it was just raw so have had to change a few thing here and there. I bought it back to Vic and am about 3 weeks from being finished, I went for a quick spin on Bruce's one but it was calm so I didn't get a full idea of what it would be like in bass straight down here. Did you upgrade to 6mm or is that std? What prop are you running.

Hope it's going well

cheers
